Have you tested wine/proton on it? It obviously won't run crysis but its probably good for old dogs games or a Nintendo platform
I feel that, I used the pine phone as a daily driver for a good bit but that was before I discovered Nostr. Really the only thing missing from Linux as a daily was a decent socal networking ecosystem. I still have mine with the keyboard case but I damaged the Sim reader and so it's just a glorified pda now lol.
Were I to get a new one I would likely do gnu with posh and integrate oxchat wavlike and primal alongside a native Solana and eth solution
Flatpak is vulnerable to manipulation if the container settings, which are controlled by the dev, are set incorrectly. That's not saying it's not a good solution to Unix compatibility but so is app image.

You should mess with sxmo. Especially danctnix arch4arm iso. It's a step learners curve but after about a month you'll question why everything isn't i3 or Wayland.
