spending some time on the plane today putting together damus profile pages for the web (via notecrumbs[1])

as cucked as bluesky is they do have nice web profile pages: https://bsky.app/profile/lakshikag.bsky.social

working on making ours look nice as well. would be nice to have large teams and millions of VC moneys like bluesky to have this all built already... but alas. I've been slammed with damus ios, nostrdb, notedeck and android issues... just getting back to our web stack now. sorry for the delay!

they did kinda just copy Twitter, but yeah looks good

HAHAHAH a ton of MAGA racists on Twitter are getting their check marks removed by Elon. funny seeing them fight within their little bubble Icl!

cool! My sister is looking through the files from her old laptop today to see if there’s any she needs/wants to keep then it’s mine! I’m thinking of installing #Ubuntu on it? Win11 is pretty slow, but the laptop isn’t completely shit. I know I could install a more interesting Linux OS, but I cba

nostr:npub1yxp7j36cfqws7yj0hkfu2mx25308u4zua6ud22zglxp98ayhh96s8c399s made this sweet video. It should be helpful even though it’s not python.

Cool thanks! Bookmarked

does #nostr have an easily available API to write/read posts from? i know it's different because it's from a protocol, but can someone lead me in the right direction? tried some python thing from github to no luck..

#asknostr #python #coding #dev #protocol

you using OpenVibe or something

damn nice! I just upgraded to Premium but can NOT nearly afford the $1k for legend lol.

Yeah I agree it’s hard to setup, but I feel like _most_ people don’t use social media considering their freedom of speech, in my opinion, which can be both good and bad imo.

I think Nostr will need something else special to grow. Sats are cool, but in their current form too complicated.

Probably heavily illegal things, not niche things. It seems like it’s gonna be really really certain conditions. Otherwise they’re going against the entire promise, but right now it seems to be a bit of a grey area, and I’m not too sure about how it works. nostr:npub1wmr34t36fy03m8hvgl96zl3znndyzyaqhwmwdtshwmtkg03fetaqhjg240 probably knows more.

I have to say, it’s a shame what Bluesky’s moderation is doing at the moment. For a while they were fine, but in recent months they’ve been super strict on banning accounts.

Especially after they claimed to have been closed (required invites) throughout 2023 to _work on_ moderation, then we see this.

I hope to see more independent PDSs, Relays & AppViews (Relays + AVs are currently more expensive so wouldn’t expect to see they soon, at least by smaller groups of people..) to try and lower the strain on Bluesky themselves, although they still do have control to cut people off - but we are “trusting” them they’ll only ban entire PDSs if the content is illegal.

Let’s see how this goes! I’m hopeful for the future of #atproto still - but any one of these 3 “major” protocols might work.

Bluesky - easier to use. #Nostr - not owned by any single person in particular. Both have the same goal though! & were early in both.
