well, i'm noticing that some of these relays are EXTREMELY slow, so if you wait for a long time, you eventually do end up with a longer list. but i'm not sure about the paid relays. i've been trouble with those. also, there's an odd absence of *popular* relays who can see my posts, even if i do check them.

i like how i get different results each time i run my relay checker (still in development) and how none of them are from the relays i pay for. the list of relays is the online list from nostr.watch.

wee, i found the bit in nostr-tools that encodes those note references, but of course they didn't implement *decoding*...

can anyone tell me how to convert between Nostr note IDs like "note1e3wqnycjhnfyhtx4cu6ma3dnrdx38ehway96uftnw7zcua27t39qeu2en6" and whatever is used in the JSON when talking to a relay? and can nostr-tools convert this for you?

building a very basic Nostr tool here

#[0] i've been trying to use nostrgram.co for checking if relays are working, but i just ran into a case where the relay owner (relay.nostr.wine) said it was working, but my posts have only occasionally been listed as coming from there on nostrgram.co. you talked earlier about timeouts. do you happen to know of a *reliable* way of checking visiblity/reach?

just having a tool where i can paste a post ID and it'll check all known relays for visibility would be very handy.

i'm not seeing them on nostrgram.co though. i don't know how reliable it is but i have been searching around for something to check which relays are actually publishing and it's the only one i've found.

dead as in appearing to work but apparently not publishing my posts

but i paid for relay.orangepill.dev and that's not working for some reason. seems completely random whether relays accept my posts or not, whether i'm connected to them or not, and no matter which client i'm using...

apparently nostr.wine and eden.nostr.land (paid relays) are both dead at the moment, so only nostr.plebchain.org is working for me. still a bit too broke to subscribe to puravida.nostr.land and nostr.inosta.cc.

TIL that banning gambling while running a state lottery is extremely common around the world - not only in Nordic or European countries, but in the United States too. i had assumed all those American lotteries were privately owned.

i'm wondering if it could somehow be my location in Norway that makes my relay reach so limited

trying to cut down on relays since i'm using two proxy relays now.

it's so weird how my posts don't reliably get pushed to relay.nostr.wine, eden.nostr.land or nostr.plebchain.org despite having paid for them. doesn't seem to matter which client i use either.
