Welcome to the party! πŸŽ‰

Can we please ask you to spend 2 minutes adding a profile photo and a short text about yourself in your nostr profile?

It goes a long way to be able to connect to you instantly!

Don't forget to set up a lightning wallet so that we can zap you (send sats)!

I'm a power user and I'm totally lost in the relay screen.. And the DM relay screen.

God help nostr beginners πŸ˜‚

Continuing on my education in cryptography and Bitcoin I'm learning today that while Elliptical Curve Cryptography (aka Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm or ECDSA) using a specific curve being 'secp256k1'.

In a coding script like Python or whatever you're into you could use libraries and functions to create a set of keys, use them to verify a string or in BTC a transaction.

In our coding script we could then verify that our message or transaction was created using using a private key associated with the public key. If the mathematics being carried out in these functions and libraries checks out then we can say our message or transaction has been signed by a (secret) private key mathematically proven to belong to an associated public key - publicly available to an end user.

In this way the maths and code behind a BTC transaction allows us to sign a transaction without revealing out secret key (which gives us ownership over it) while allowing the person we are sending BTC (value) to can see that it was indeed the key associated with that private key which signed the transaction and hence gives the user assurance that the transaction was legitimate.

At least this is my understanding so far... #studyBitcoin and the journey continues. makes me wonder is this what Nodes are actually checking when they run consensus rules against blocks mined by miners to be added to the time chain? Guess Ill find out soon enough.

#plebchain #coffeechain #bitcoin #nostr #grownostr #alwayslearning

Public/private key is asymmetric cryptography and predates bitcoin by 30 years.

A node checking the signature is just one of many consensus rules that are being checked.

Keep learning!

Today I am making a change.

My life is in shambles.

Been looking for a job for months.

Husband just quit his because of horrible abuse.

I had a 45 minute panic attack.

And I realized….my emotions go from 1 end to the other. Swinging like a goddamn pendulum.

I’m sick of it.

It is what it is.

We will find a way to survive.

We always do.

The universe always finds a way.

And even if we do loose everything.

Is that so bad?

At least, we would still have each other.

At least, I don’t have to go through this alone.

Meditating last week and I had a mantra come in my head. I googled it immediately and it aligned with my needs.

I’ve never used a mantra before so it was very weird. My best friend actually read a book about them a couple years ago and she was working with a specific mantra but it never aligned for me.

β€œOm Namah Shivaya”

Om-na-mah-shi-va-ya

I started meditating with it and holy crap. It activated something in me. Now I have to preface this by saying that I’ve been wanting to be good at meditating for prob 15 years but never could. One day I had a break through and decided today was the day. This was the same day I received this mantra.

Kinda crazy, right?!

Anyways, I’ve been using it ever since and it really does align the elements in me. I feel very lightheaded after. Give it a try and let me know how it feels for you! I’d love to know!

For my best friend, she finds that it energizes her and grounds her. She’s an air sign so that makes sense too since she is more lofty and needs to be more balance with earth. I on the other hand am a water sign and generally feel very grounded so feeling More airy makes sense for me.

Thanks for staying!

(Added a photo from google about the meaning, are we allowed to do that?)

Thank you for sharing and good luck with your current uphill.

You are right to focusing on your family.

There is so much force in modern life to divide us from loved ones. Don't.

Payments may continue despite a few failures. Are you sure payments stopped on the first failure?

Hey. So I heard some great things about Amethyst so I got ahold of an Android phone to try it out.

It’s awesome! I did find several things probably worth reporting though in case they haven’t been found yet.

v0.87.5-PLAY

Here you go.

- When I click to edit my photo or banner the buttons at the top render and then 1 second later they jump up several pixels.

- When writing a new note, there’s a button in the top middle of the window that I think is to pick relays. When I click on it, the app crashes (Android 14, kernel 5/13/2024).

- It looks like there are two buttons on the profile screen to copy the npub. I assume one copied to users name but they actually appear to be duplicate and both copy the whole npub.

- If I click my profile in the top-right corner, sometimes the back button must be pressed twice to return to the previous screen instead of once.

- My profile photo on my profile page fills the circle around profile photos but on the profile editing page it doesn’t. It shows some of my banner inside the profile photo circle. I think this is because my photo is portrait.

- Under β€œhidden words” the button to add hidden words is grayed out and not clickable but I don’t see if say anywhere why.

- If in you have β€œnote discovery” selected in the 4th tab and you leave that tab and come back, pressing β€œmarketplace” doesn’t work on the first try. You have to press it a couple of times.

Thanks for having such an awesome Android app for Android users!
