Altruistic anarchist, down-to-earth, independent hobby astronaut πŸ§‘β€πŸš€ and amazingly lively, passionate web developer in the stand against the technocrats. Also founder of nitropage.org, the FOSS visual website editor.

In a world where you can only win politically with blatant lies, corruption, manipulation and "constructive" delusion, I am happy to be a loser.

Good questions.

So the root meaning is basically "dominion" which ties back to Genesis.

As for your second question about coercion, that is a bit more complicated.

The simple answer is that there are plenty of just ways a person may attain authority and rule. That someone would attain authority isn't in itself wrong but, again, an inevitability.

I also should say that coercion once someone is IN authority is baked into the pie. It is not a matter of if they will be coercive but how they will be coercive. Or, put another way, to what end.

For example, I am coercive with my childrenβ€”I will discipline them if they are rebellious to my authorityβ€”but my coercion is aimed in the direction of them being self-disciplined, respectful, and responsible individuals who are not mastered by their emotions and impulses and sins but rather learn how to submit themselves in righteousness to God. My authority as a father is to love them enough to teach them to obey all that God has commanded. That involves coercion.

On the flip side, If I were a tyrannical father I would still have authority over them because of my "governing office" as father but my rule would be using coercion for MY OWN gain, not my children's gain.

This, in principle, is true of magisterial rulers. God calls rulers to love their people and place. To use coercion in righteous ways for the benefit and flourishing of the people.

You specifically asked about attaining power through coercive means. On that note, and this is a harder reality to grapple with, God allows, for his purposes, selfish and evil men to do such things. Just as men can come to power through just means, so they can through unjust means. God is infinitely wise and we often do not understand why he allows all that he does. But, as was stated before, sometimes it is to discipline an unruly peoples. To discipline and rebuke in order to call them back into righteous submission to Christ.

Pardon the novel I wrote in response here. Does all that make sense?

Regarding god allows evil:

My theory is that allowing "evil" is the basis of giving choice, wouldn't make much sense as a god to say: "Choose whatever you want, but I'll only allow good choices".

Opening up a second topic: God influencing the "evil" freedom by answering prayers:

Personally I believe that god doesn't instantly answer/resolve typical askforhelp prayers, because it would contradict the freedom to choose evil.

P.S. I am no christian, but my philosophy has a lot of parallels with christianity.

Running it locally (for test purposes) is relatively simple. The system needs an uptodate version of nodejs installed, then to start NP you go into its folder and run "npm run build && npm run start" (or just start, if its already built).

Hosting it locally is done with the same commands, but comes with the usual self-hosting challenges:

- How do you map the server port (3000) do your public ip?

- How do you add an ssl certificate for https?

The port forwarding setup depends on the local network setup. Some routers make it easy, others do not even allow it.

Personally I like https://caddyserver.com/ to automatically handle the ssl certificate.

File uploads are currently just done directly over the Page Editor - definitely a process that needs to get better before v1.0 πŸ˜….

Out of curiocity, what Hugo theme would you recommend the most? Ananke? Or does it depend widely on the use case?

How do you teach non-tech people (esp. on Windows) the publishing process? Generate locally and upload via Filezilla?

I guess Hugo kinda has the same issues moving people away from Wordpress, as I do with NP πŸ™ˆ. No matter how good the alternatives, they just stick with Wordpress, because everybody uses it - democrazy works 🫠.

Thank you πŸ€—.

Why does WordPress suck?

a) Slower for visitors

You're selling less business, people are walking away from your malware that loads slow.

Search engines punish slow speed.

b) Slower to make

I hope you like carpel tunnel. WordPress forces you to go in a browser and manually modify shit with a mouse, which is proven to hurt your hands in the long term. Plus it's slow load speeds to work on something constantly reloading on a remote server, so you're urinating on your own time. On top of network issues with Tor

c) Leeching Big Tech malware.

You're leaking to the government your income, your sales, and reducing your freedom of speech. While it's technically true WordPress is "open source", it has malware Google fonts by default on the front end, jsdeliver to function, and Cloudflare and Google on the backend. Then to do most tasks, you to install 3rd party plugins which are often closed source and have security vulnerabilities. This is because WordPress suffers from mission creep, where they want to do everything.

d) Hypocrite

You say you want decentralization, but your customers think you're a hypocrite. Most uBlock Origin users immediately see the google fonts and JSDeliver and know you're using WordPress. Now you're trying to sell them on your expertise, but you're using amateur tools.

e) WordPress plugins need constant updates for security, but your setup has a unique combination of plugins. Therefore, as time passes by, the probability of a unique failure increases, which costs more money to solve.

Instead, ditch bloat WordPress, and go with Hugo.

Hugo is a static site generator. This means it generates static content locally on your computer, then you upload and serve a finished static thing. On the other hand, malware WordPress has a live database, and then dynamically creates that content on the site while your visitors wait for it to load.

With Hugo, you don't need any coding knowledge to easily and effortlessly format text, add pictures, and change the layout of your articles, on your local offline computer with the keyboard like an alpha male, as opposed to a worthless carpel tunnel bitch clicking a mouse in a remote browser using Big Tech malware.

Consider reaching out to Simplified Privacy's on-staff graphic designer to help you transition your content over to Hugo, to become a master of your domain. (DM me)

The mouse argument is hilarious 🀣. I would argue that mouse-support is crucial for non-tech people πŸ™ˆ. This feels a bit like pitching VIM + Markdown as a Microsoft Word replacement πŸ˜….

Checky sidenote: I can recommend my FOSS visual website editor Nitropage instead of Wordpress and Hugo πŸ˜‡.

Preferring Fedora 100% on a technical level, but there is a little annoying thing to consider: RedHat has been acquired by IBM, so in a way IBM now sponsors the development of Fedora πŸ™ˆ.

From my experience this sadly includes like 99% of people πŸ™ˆ. The power that authority can give is just too "sweet" πŸ˜‘.

Recent example: Sweden and Russia banning cell phones in class rooms. Some of my "freedom loving" friends actually like this ban, using the same authoritarian arguments that they otherwise would deny.

My opinion with this, as with everything related to children: its the responsibility of the parents, not of the government.

Thank you! The recovery is doing nicely so far πŸ™‚πŸ™

After using a degoogled moto as a secondary phone for a while already, I finally pulled the trigger today. A bicycle accident last week kinda disabled me and gave time to migrate the last apps over to the moto πŸ₯³!
