As an #obgyn, #christmas hits different. I think about Mary, laboring with only her husband to help her, away from her home, in a barn, at night. How scary that must have been! Back then, other women would help each other and there were village midwives.

I accidentally revealed myself during casual conversation at work yesterday. I was like “whoops, my crazy is showing” 😂 I need this book!

That’s pretty cool! It’s like a barter system with whatever currency you have available to you and can agree with

Starting a business has given you a unique skill set that we will take with us when and if we go.

Facts:

1) Brock Purdy was the last pick of the NFL draft and was never really supposed to make an NFL roster.

He is on pace to become the MVP this year and his team is a favorite to win the Superbowl.

2) Tom Brady, the greatest ever, was for the most part a college back up. He was the 199th pick of his draft class, never expected to play. He won 7 Super Bowls over three decades.

3) Trevor Lawrence was supposed to be “the great one,” the most talented QB in a generation. He was drafted first and his young career has been underwhelming to date.

There are many lessons here, but clearly there must be something in humans that is hard to measure: “heart” “passion” “grit” “football IQ” “vibes” “energy” and so on.

But this desire to win, accepting nothing short of victory is part of it.

When I was younger, I believe, to a smaller degree, I had this “it factor.”

I played baseball formally and many other sports around the neighborhood.

It’s hard to explain and such a long story, but I ALWAYS knew my team would win. I felt the victory and could see it before the game was even played. I could visualize the way we were going to win. No matter the score, I still felt it. I never doubted we win. Down by 5 in the final inning, I saw nothing but victory. I didn’t have to try to do this, it just happened.

If we lost, it was perplexing. Of course I would try to understand what happened, but I always would think: “If we could play them one more time, we will destroy them.”

And then, I could see it, exactly how we would win the game.

No matter how bad things got, I always knew me and the mates would absolutely win regardless of the cost, our record, or how big the other team was.

I never felt scared, and I never stepped on a sports field wondering who would win. I had already played the game and we had already won.

I could go on, but in short, I’m no Tom Brady or Brock Purdy, but I know there is something in an athlete that is hard to measure, and I had a bit of it, I guess.

Sending without proofing.

Same but not in sports. Just academics 😂
