It’s crazy that university campuses are always a center focus for these types of protests, but the deaths and injury is not normal. Regardless of what side of the protest, folks are loosing their lives over the US’s involvement in foreign wars.
I see a trend…
1. **Kent State shootings (1970)** - Four students killed, nine others injured.
2. **Jackson State killings (1970)** - Two students killed, twelve others injured.
3. **Columbia University protests (1968)** - No fatalities during the protests, but injuries and arrests occurred.
4. **University of California, Berkeley protests (1964-1965)** - No fatalities during the protests, but significant clashes and arrests.
5. **Harvard University protests (1969)** - No fatalities during the protests, but confrontations with police occurred.
6. **Kent State anti-Vietnam War protests (1977)** - No fatalities reported, but ongoing protests and disruptions.
7. **Ohio State University protests (1970)** - No fatalities reported, but significant protests and disruptions.
8. **University of California, Davis pepper spray incident (2011)** - No fatalities reported, but injuries due to pepper spraying.
9. **University of Wisconsin-Madison Dow Chemical protest (1967)** - No fatalities reported, but clashes with police during protests.
10. **University of Illinois at Chicago anti-Vietnam War protests (1969)** - No fatalities reported, but clashes with police and arrests.
It's important to note that while fatalities occurred in some of these protests, others were characterized by injuries, arrests, and significant disruptions without loss of life. Each event contributed to broader discussions about civil rights, free speech, and social activism on college campuses.
