Smartphones Must Have User-Replaceable Batteries by 2027 in the EU zone https://www.pcmag.com/news/eu-smartphones-must-have-user-replaceable-batteries-by-2027 I think Companies like Apple, Google, and Samsung will next create two versions of their phonesβ€”one for the EU with replaceable batteries and one for the rest of the world. They go to lengths to ensure they can squeeze extra dollars out of everyone while following laws. Just give everyone an option to replace batteries πŸ”‹

iPhones in China have two physical sim cards. No one gets those outside China. It will be nice to have such a phone while traveling, but Apple creates multiple versions to meet the demands of local laws. I think that is a nice feature to have. It is sad that they don’t sell that model outside China

Ncurses is a library that lets programmers create TUIs on Linux and Unix-like systems. It’s popular for developing TUIs for text editors, terminal emulators, games, and CLI utilities. Here is how install Ncurses support in Alpine Linux to build apps https://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/alpine-linux-fatal-error-ncurses-h-no-such-file-or-directory-fix/

Want to compress the whole dir with good compression? Try xz compression:

tar -cf - dir1 | xz -9ze -T0 >archive.tar.xz

The latest tar version under #FreeBSD/#macOS/#Linux support the following syntax:

tar -cJf archive.tar.xz dir1

See https://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/compress-the-whole-directory-using-xz-and-tar/ more info.

#!/bin/bash is a sequence of characters (#!) called shebang and is used to tell the Linux OS which interpreter to use to parse the rest of the file https://bash.cyberciti.biz/guide/Shebang #linux #unix #freebsd #programming #bash

Here is how you list all physically installed network cards in #Linux connected to the PCI bus:

sudo hwinfo --short --netcard

sudo lshw -C network -short

sudo inxi -N

sudo lspci | grep -Ei 'eth|network|ethernet|wireless|wifi'

For the past several weeks, whenever I post any media, I always take the time to add ALT text to it. Although it may be a little time-consuming, I believe it is important to describe the media for those who are visually impaired or have accessibility concerns. Do you also add ALT text to your media for accessibility reasons? #mastodon
