I've been thinking about the eventual split of the internet as we know it for years now. Now we have Altman calling for a ban of PRC produced AI. China is deep into making their own chips because of sanctions (even testing chips made from bismuth rather than silicon). Trumpy boy doing the isolation thing. The isn't much hope for togetherness in the future it seems to me. Hopefully it doesn't lead to war. Its funny how tech that has the capability to bring us together only seems to separate us. AI alignment questions are interesting, because as humans we can't even align ourselves.
It is crazy I remember downloading a 20 mb game demo on dial up, it took probably 8 hrs. Now if 20gb takes more 5 mins something must be seriously wrong.
