Despite my view that their is no "one true religion" i do believe that for personal development it is wise to choose a path, choose the religion that strikes a chord with you personally, then start exploring the mystical/esoteric aspects of that religion once you are comfortable with the exoteric. Think of the exoteric as the religion and the esoteric as the related spirituality. This doesnt mean you shouldn't read or be interested about other paths, seek knowledge. But the tree with shallow roots is easily blown by the wind, like this... development is stunted.

An holistic and dedicated approach on a path is necessary for spiritual development. Preferably with a trustworthy teacher. But be very careful of false prophet's and scam artists. Maulana Jallaladin Rumi lays out good rules for a sincere spiritual guide. But to your actual question:

God is the absolute perfect emanator of everything, in everything but not of anything and essentially unattainable, beyond space, time, and concepts of good and evil. We can only grasp and glimpse beyond the veil and words will always fall short of a complete explanation. I really like the works of the sufi masters and especially ibn al-Arabi's take on God.

Personally I resonate towards the Abrahamic faiths and the path I choose is Islam focused on Sufism. But as Muhammad (pbuh) instructed i also take lessons from the "peoples of the book" i.e. all those which align with an Abrahamic concept of god: jews, christians etc.

I also read a lot about all the religions of the world as wisdom can be found in many places. But if I have contradicting ideas then i root myself in Abrahamic ideology.

Only option. After a life of searching and denying... I accepted the rationality of God's existence.

I don't have enough faith to be an athiest. However I do not believe in "one true religion" i believe that all religions are humanities attempts to grasp at the truth which is always beyond the veil.
