For the newcomers to nostr who might wonder why all the freaks here are so passionate and focused on #bitcoin, let me try to simply capture the big idea.

Assume that when you work, instead of being paid in your local currency (like Yen, Euro, dollars, etc), you were paid in water.

You aren't going to drink all the water in the moment you earn it, so you need to find a jar or container to store it Obviously, you are going to choose a jar that is strong, secure, and does not leak.

Your local currency is the equivalent to a leaky jar. The leak is called price inflation. If you are using US dollars, over the long term, it leaks at around 7% every year. This leak can threaten the quality and length of your life.

Now, what if we also told you that the bankers and politicians were the ones that made the jar, and determined how much your jar leaks, and that bitcoin was a jar that didn't leak, and bankers and politicians could not change the bitcoin jar?

Would you view bitcoin as a source of freedom? Would you want some bitcoin?

You see some of the biggest distortions in the microcosm of college campuses, where faculty and kids live in a protected bubble, ironically secured by the sweat, hard work and generosity of alumni most on today's campus openly claim to despise. Some people are happy to give up their freedom, if it means that they gain entry into a community. Others are willing to hurt others when trying to solve their own hurt. Zuckerberg was an outcast. He solved his own hurt by creating FB and reigning as its Supreme God. But hurt people hurt others, and Zuckerberg has seemingly not cared about hurting others.

If you want to hang out with him, and you think what he is cool, have fun. But give thought as to whether this is really healthy for you. Why do you feel this way? But also respect those who choose to not trust him, or compromise their standards.

If nation states are plugging in miners and driving hashrate, do they care more about a) bitcoin as a reserve asset, or b) bitcoin as an uncensorable/secure communication network, and the ability to control what gets included in upcoming blocks?

Blackrock or JPM, etc, will buy them before the fall.

Like a prent watching their children do stupid things, this too is inevitable. But we will all be stronger for it in the end.
