Anyone have a breakdown of the percentage of government spending that goes to all businesses? I guess what I’m looking for is what amount of the economy is actually producing things that benefit civilization, versus what is directed by the State. What scares me, beyond the inevitability of these coming wars (or so it seems) is the declining birth rates worldwide. We have four (on girl/3boys) and just the maintenance of first world infrastructure is going to be challenging, not to mention having progress on the technology front at the same time with rapidly decreasing populations…
Why don’t all of the people of the world just tell their “leaders” to screw off, and not fight in their wars. It ends instantly. WTF is wrong with us?
Article talks about conscription for women too. This is insane, though there are roles they can play, combat is one that women should never be subjected to. All war is bad and stupid… *big sigh* …

This comes out to working for about 10 minutes at minimum wage for gas, while in today’s world you need to work (7.25/hour min wage and 3.47/gallon) about 29 minutes. It’s criminal especially since technology should make things *less* expensive.
Some days it seems like drinking may be the only solution.
