In order to be true to our nature, we must aspire to greater things.

I've been thinking about experimenting with #Homelab #Tech and recently came across this inspiring post

#Linux #OpenSource #SelfHosting

Just found this helpful visualization of #NOSTR #Decentralized protocol.

This is one of many deleterious results of #patents & #intellectualproperty BS.

Ideas are neither scarce (your use of my idea does not prevent me from using it at the same time). So there is no conflict in the use of ideas.

Patents and IP are illegitimate uses of force (state force, unsurprisingly).

Contrary to what its defenders say, IP does not promote innovation, it promotes stagnation.

The result is a virtual monopoly granted by the state. A single, artificially inflated company reaps profits at the expense of everyone else.

I look forward to seeing what competition will bring to #e-ink #tech.

#Smartphones could have been such an excellent piece of #Tech instead of #Surveillance #Corporatism devices.

But here are a couple of #DIY #RaspberryPi alternatives which can provide a custom degree of #Privacy (up to a point).

Awesome #CyberDeck

It seems a good balance between #security and convenience on #Nostr is to create an offline key and combine with a Lilygo TTGO device.

How about those who do not own one of those control boards yet?

Since I already have an account and there is no way to migrate my data to a new private key, what would be recommended?

I didn't want to install any app on my desktop so I went with the nos2x web extension for authentication on iris.to or primal.net, but I'm not so sure about how secure it is (also those clients are still a bit buggy).

"A curated list of #privacy & #security focused #apps, #software, and #providers

Large data-hungry corporations dominate the digital world but with little, or no respect for your privacy. Migrating to #opensource applications with a strong emphasis on security will help stop corporations, governments, and hackers from logging, storing or selling your personal data."

The #Crypto #Anarchist Manifesto from Timothy C. May and several essays from other #Cypherpunks are essential reads for #Devs thinking about succumbing to regulators.

Perhaps even for those already under those chains these words of wisdom might provide useful ideas on how to be subversive against modern dystopia.

https://nakamotoinstitute.org/crypto-anarchist-manifesto/

"Two persons may exchange messages, conduct business, and negotiate electronic contracts without ever knowing the True Name, or legal identity, of the other. Interactions over networks will be untraceable, via extensive re- routing of encrypted packets and tamper-proof boxes which implement cryptographic protocols with nearly perfect assurance against any tampering. Reputations will be of central importance, far more important in dealings than even the credit ratings of today. "

"These developments will alter completely the nature of government regulation, the ability to tax and control economic interactions, the ability to keep information secret, and will even alter the nature of trust and reputation."

"The State will of course try to slow or halt the spread of this technology, citing national security concerns, use of the technology by drug dealers and tax evaders, and fears of societal disintegration."

"Just as the technology of printing altered and reduced the power of medieval guilds and the social power structure, so too will cryptologic methods fundamentally alter the nature of corporations and of government interference in economic transactions. "

Although at its infancy, this #Tech could be a major step towards a #Distributed infrastructure for the #Internet and it's a perfect fit for #Seasteading

I wonder if adaptations could be made to #LiFi and what are the possibilities with #Infrared communication tech, not necessarily using lasers.

Would also love to see a #DIY adaptation.

Worth the watch for anyone interested in #Neuroscience

It is intriguing to think that deferring #Dopamine, or better yet, turn the waiting into dopamine aligns perfectly with low time preference (delayed gratification) in #AustrianEconomics

Just don't mistake #Currency for #Money

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLORsLlcT48

Notable quotes:

“When I say dopamine is the universal currency of everything, what I mean is, it's driving the motivation to develop new currencies.”

"I'm gonna climb this mountain only to want the next mountain to climb"

"Dopamine itself is not the reward, it's the build up to the reward"

"The keys are to pursue rewards but understand that the pursuit is actually the reward, if you want to have repeated wins"

"The problem is not pleasures, the problem is that pleasure experienced without prior requirement for pursuit is terrible for us"

"Addiction is a progressive narrowing of the things that bring you pleasure. A good life is the progressive expansion of the things that bring you pleasure"

In light of the recent #Twitter & #Reddit mess posts like these are getting more common (with good reason).

https://techpolicy.press/another-internet-is-possible-if-you-believe-it-is/

But if the reasoning stands on a bad foundation how can we expect a better #Internet ?

A few important points:

• Dot not mistake #Corporatism for #Capitalism

• These so called #DigitalMonopolies only exist due to corporatism, such gargantuan companies without profit only exist due to #MoneyPrinting

• Inviting regulators not only will freeze #Innovation but it will lead to a #Dystopian Internet far worse than what it is now

• The more politicians get involved in the Internet, the more stupidity you'll see

• We don't need more #Regulation, we need more #Free #Permissionless and #Decentralized projects

• We don't need Marx ideas, we need #Mises ideas

In order to be true to our nature, we must aspire to greater things.
