Japanese authorities arrested a gang of 18 scammers by analyzing Monero transactions

Monero's greatest strength was that it had gone largely unnoticed for so long. But now that it started attracting a little more attention, it turns out to still be traceable after all.
Perfectly private money is not possible. The best anyone can do is get as close to 99.9% perfectly private as possible, but there will always be ways to track someone.
Perfectly hard money is possible, though, and exists as Bitcoin. And while perfectly hard money can be made more private, very (but not perfectly) private money cannot be made to be perfectly hard.
Remember: You cannot store the same value in two different monetary protocols at the same time. So choose wisely.
We aren't cheering because privacy was violated. That's high time preference and fiat.
We're cheering because those who chose to ignore the maxis' warnings and only learn through pain finally have a chance to learn and move forward. We're looking beyond this immediate circumstance, and seeing that humanity has progressed just a little bit farther, like so many starfish thrown back into the sea.
We're cheering because we feel triumphant; not for ourselves, but for all those who can now see truth a little more clearly.

Spending the evening with some of my kids in a corn maze and other activities at a Fall Festival. I love this season! 😍🍂
My 9.5-month-old still wakes up frequently during the night to nurse. But sometimes he wakes up while snuggling with me, and sometimes while snuggling with my wife. In the dark, he often gets turned around and disoriented, so he tells us apart by grabbing our chins:
Beard? It's me, and he starts fussing, since I can't feed him.
No beard? It's his mommy, and he starts giggling with excitement and anticipation of food.

I kind of agree, but here's my "ackchyually": I think what we use in the US and most of the West today is more like a "BDC", so just without the first "C".
We use a Digital Currency that comes from a Bank, but not directly from the Central bank. There's at least another degree or two of separation between us and those who run the Fed.
With a CBDC, everyone uses the same bank, which has the power to give you money, take it away, make it expire, or do anything else with it, with or without cause. Yes, banks in the US can do that now, but there are still too many competing banks, which makes that kind of control and oppression difficult.
If we had a CBDC, none of us who use bitcoin or Nostr, or who talk about the kinds of things we usually talk about would have any more fiat to spend, or be able to get paid from any of our jobs. The Fed and government can do that on a small scale, so they can and do freeze the accounts of high profile individuals, but the fact that they can't do that to all of us is evidence that we don't have a CBDC, but just a BDC.
Okay, thanks for letting me get that #ackchyually out of my system. I'm done now. 😅
Thrilled to launch the world’s first cartoon that teaches kids about Bitcoin vs CBDCs in 2 days!
We’ll post the whole episode on every platform (can nostr support 22 min videos?)

I say we make "sats" the standard, instead of "satoshis". And "pieces" instead of "part". So:
Receive sats (small pieces of bitcoin)
by sharing your content
It's a little shorter, so a little easier to read.

Hmm...I typed that through the Bitcoin Chatt account, up in the "Announcements" section, and then when I switched accounts again and came back here, the announcement moved down here. We'll need to fix that. 🔧
Hey, check it out! We can comment on these events now! 🤩

Fun Fact: The "21 Questions" purple pill is chewable, and actually tastes like grape! 🤯
And sovereignty. It tastes like sovereignty, too. 😉

If the incentives were such that parents wanted to leech off their children, and only have children in the first place in order to create slaves who will do their every bidding, then perhaps. But that's the opposite of how every parent is incentivized, and would effectively destroy the human race in a single generation.
Unless the parent is extremely mentally ill (they do exist), they will always desire to put themselves on the line to ensure a better present and future for their children. They'll let their children feed off of them (which all babies are literally meant to do!), if that's what it takes. They'll devote every hour of every day to their needs, until they gradually become independent.
It's the exact opposite of someone who desires political power over the lives of others.
Yep, I've received 3 zaps from you: 93 sats, 1 sat, and 1111 sats just now. Thanks!

Suppose that one day someone turns to you and asks:
"Hey, I've heard about Nostr, but what is it, exactly?"
Do you have an answer ready for them?
And after you answer them, what if they ask more questions, like:
"Why do we need Nostr?" or "Can I use Nostr anonymously?" or "How does Nostr handle spam and bots?"
Do you know how you would answer those questions, and others?
This is one of the reasons why I'm collecting answers to these and 17 other questions, from some of the most knowledgeable Nostriches anywhere, and turning it into a book: "21 Questions: A Beginners Guide to Nostr"

You can use the book's answers to inform your own, or you can simply let your friend borrow the book, so they can get all their questions answered at their own pace.

"21 Questions: A Beginners Guide to Nostr" will make purple pilling easy, just as "21 Questions: A Beginners Guide to Bitcoin" made orange pilling easy:
1: Definitely nostr:npub15xd2mmjnh3caykh77djsv73e0zkrp42jp5mwerx8f4m6su40wdvss7t3l3: satlantis.io
2: I like that it allows me to connect with individuals, events, and business in my local area. As a Bitcoin meetup organizer, Satlantis is really valuable for planning and announcing events. And, if anyone ever wants to come visit my town, there's already a list of the best venues in my city's merchant map.
3: I'm really looking forward to when Satlantis adds chat groups to each city! 🤩 My meetup really wants to ditch Telegram, so Satlantis will naturally be the best choice.
4: I'd like to see a bitcoin wallet app that's integrated with Nostr, and is self-custodial for both on-chain AND Lightning funds. Basically nostr:npub1h2qfjpnxau9k7ja9qkf50043xfpfy8j5v60xsqryef64y44puwnq28w8ch, if they also offered self-custodial Lightning, the way nostr:npub1mutnyacc9uc4t5mmxvpprwsauj5p2qxq95v4a9j0jxl8wnkfvuyque23vg used to (or I guess still does, if you run an instance of it yourself).
I hope that helps! 💜
