i don't find that Norwegians tend to help each other with money when socialising, if one person has less.
my friend in Trondheim (who works a full-time job) barely paid a cent to help with costs, despite knowing what my finances look like usually.
you can be surrounded by people who have PLENTY of money to spare, but it's not acceptable to help a friend.
somehow, it's more acceptable to buy an expensive apartment or a flat screen TV than to pay $50 to help a friend.
he knows a girl who is on disability benefits. he kept inviting her to social events that cost too much money anyway, until she complained.
but he did not pay for our restaurant meals. he wanted me to come. why didn't he pay? he knew my situation. money was kept tight.
it's not a criticism of him. more of the mentality. it's rare that friends help with money.

nostr:npub1knckqnd0fjrjnlkxtu4v0c9zfeqqskeshhxwdua6jm7a29damh8sdgjx9d i can obsess over the tuning of the database server but also the right font and colour palette for the website.
nostr:npub1knckqnd0fjrjnlkxtu4v0c9zfeqqskeshhxwdua6jm7a29damh8sdgjx9d given these limitations, i'd need funding and a team of people, and get them to do exactly what's needed. unlikely to happen.

nostr:npub1knckqnd0fjrjnlkxtu4v0c9zfeqqskeshhxwdua6jm7a29damh8sdgjx9d yeah. and i wish i didn't have my ADHD issues because if my output matched my level of understanding when it comes to code and creative work, i'd easily write some FOSS apps that would kick ass.

nostr:npub1t6qgftxwktglnaana3kx2uls59qe7taujuvje0yd9uf9kutryd2s5ghtd2 i find driving to be quite stressful. i don't have a license but i have tried to get one a few times. i zone out when it's time to memorise traffic rules.
nostr:npub1zgpf3393m9xrz4rl40g3svmtstzy3gzvj3xuu4jye05rcalxanhs4lcsqw who remembers line numbers? also, i hate user interfaces that use the concept of marks.
nostr:npub1zgpf3393m9xrz4rl40g3svmtstzy3gzvj3xuu4jye05rcalxanhs4lcsqw i arrow around vim and i use visual mode for selection. i have a handful of vim commands memorised. it's a tiny fraction of the commands you can use in vim, but i don't have the time/patience for them.
nostr:npub1cuscsrz6efq99ptktk26x58v4yqy9y46ytp8xw4rjjwq0wlt6znst66789 I pretty much don't use the arrow keys in #vim since they're also awkwardly located in a US-dvorak key layout anyway and I don't want to remap them. It's faster to navigate and scroll with search or line numbers or moving in blocks of lines or setting marks.

if the traffic rules were elegantly devised, you'd have like 5-10 rules of thumb that everything derived from, and then you'd be good to go.
as someone who doesn't drive and isn't well-versed in what all the signage means exactly:
the traffic rules are an awful UX experience. highly confusing and often not intuitive at all.
you just have to memorise the rules. if we could start over with traffic rules, you'd just need to read a pamphlet to figure them out.
there isn't really a simple/elegant overarching principle to the traffic system. it's just a bunch of specific rules that accumulated over time, and now we're stuck with them.
nostr:npub1zgpf3393m9xrz4rl40g3svmtstzy3gzvj3xuu4jye05rcalxanhs4lcsqw i'm sure you're happy that vim - unlike vi - allows you to navigate a text file with the arrow keys - which intuitively indicate movement with graphical symbols

nostr:npub1knckqnd0fjrjnlkxtu4v0c9zfeqqskeshhxwdua6jm7a29damh8sdgjx9d i get that. most people don't have a general interest in creating new images.
some people do though, so the tool does need to be versatile, with a wide array of features, and just the right ones to make them highly versatile. people who create visual content know the building blocks for how to do everything. the tool needs to know how they think.
