I think there's some truth to the idea that if you grew up really poor, you're always hungry. You've always got that hunger inside you.
It's a kind of desperation you never really get over. I feel like sometimes I don't see the forest for the trees because of how I grew up. Like my standards are too low. I'm happy with almost anything so long as it's better than how it was, when really I shouldn't be satisfied with what I have.
