I particularly enjoyed the story of ecash and David Chaum. That part gets glossed over in other historical syntheses.

I knew about many of the projects and communities that built up to the invention of bitcoin but I never took the time to study them in detail. nostr:npub1art8cs66ffvnqns5zs5qa9fwlctmusj5lj38j94lv0ulw0j54wjqhpm0w5 has laid down the definitive prehistory of bitcoin. If you want to know the path ahead it really helps to know the path that came before.

International teams are fun because you can see the seasonal differences right there on Zoom. My southern hemisphere coworkers are wearing hoodies because it is almost winter down there and the weather is starting to get cold. On the other side of the world my northern hemisphere coworkers are wearing hoodies because it is almost summer and the AC is starting to get cold.

Seems like cryptographically blinded auth tokens in a cool new thing people are doing. This is the fundamental mechanism behind ecash. It's great to see good ideas spread.
