I'm one of the people who's really missed full-text search, especially from academic and public health twitter, but I've only wanted it here if it can be done in a safety-preserving way.

It looks like search is on the way, with an "opt-out" via account discoverability, currently labeled "Suggest account to others" in preferences. I hope to see clear official comms soon about the details, but in the meantime, here's how to opt out:

Madeline Miller, author of Circe and one of my favorite living writers, on the increasingly stigmatized fight to avoid reinfection while dealing with long covid:

“…how long am I going to do this? Until indoor air is safe for all, until vaccines prevent transmission, until there’s a cure for long covid. Until I’m not risking my family’s future on a grocery run. Because the truth is that however immortal we feel, we are all just one infection away from a new life.”

In case any of you have severe iron-deficiency anemia, this 2020 research on hepcidin/timing 100% turned things around for me and I don't think it's made it onto most people's radar:

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7193469/

Every-other-day supplementation w/ 100mg iron bisglycinate in the morning + orange juice + C supplement + food + (coffee no closer than an hour before/after) is finally moving the needle for me without worsening autoimmune-related inflammation. YMMV.

Internet-brain disclaimers:

I don't absorb iron well and have been working on this with my doctors since I was a kid—please refrain from offering me advice about meat, tofu, spinach, liquid iron, iron fish, IV infusions, etc. If it exists, I've tried it.

Also, gentlemen of fedi, please don't take this as an invitation to publicly divulge your partners' medical conditions. 🙏

But an “algo” (🤖) that offered a list of people with whom the people I follow frequently chat would be super nice for me.
