Why are Brits and Aussies so much funnier than Americans and Canadians? Is self-deprecating humor taught in school?

"I thought that I had just gotten to, you know, scratch the surface of this amazing technology, and then it was all going to be taken away," he added. Before I knew what NIMBY stood for, I had just voted on such a policy without knowing it. My intentions were good, but I didn't fully understand the consequences. In the foothills of San Jose, CA there was a proposition to build dense housing. I rejected it because I admired the beauty of these hills from the valley. I love how the hills changed colors from a burnt yellow, lush green, and at times even white from the snow near Mt. Lick Observatory. However, another part of me thinks that we could have possibly developed the "Beverly Hills" of the South Bay. It would have given entrepreneurs in the valley a symbol to look up to. Capitalism. Oh wait there's already plenty of that here. Ok but it would have at least meant more housing with some great city views.

The technology subreddit feels more like the anti-technology subreddit. It's quite pessimistic when I think to be truly for technology would necessitate more optimism and progressive views.
