Says someone who hasn’t listened to a single episode of nostr:npub1fpcd25q2zg09rp65fglxuhp0acws5qlphpg88un7mdcskygdvgyqfv4sld or what we talk about, plus our stellar guests nostr:note1anqwhesfgzyeu390h83552xc7gyqupax4gqtjsgx629p0em2wvssjg8z9u

The podcast is great Trey. Ignore the noise and move forward.

Whirlpool is described as a mixer, but it is actually a coinjoin with a central coordinator. Funds are never sent to one of the company’s accounts.

Attacking coinjoins before the trial on Tornado is over is a very risky strategy.

3nm 😲😲😲. That’s best in class, Apple-like, TSMC-produced chips you have there guys! Congrats

I sniped this picture before it was deleted. nostr:npub17u5dneh8qjp43ecfxr6u5e9sjamsmxyuekrg2nlxrrk6nj9rsyrqywt4tp are you transitioning to a CISO role or what? (Don’t fire your social media manager please)

This can be big

They only apply to service providers, not individuals or non custodial wallets. Many of those services, if not all, are already KYCed.

I am intrigued by Casa’s new inheritance feature and I have great admiration for nostr:npub17u5dneh8qjp43ecfxr6u5e9sjamsmxyuekrg2nlxrrk6nj9rsyrqywt4tp.

But

- the app is closed source (or I couldn’t find anything online)

- it is not 100% bitcoin focused

Any feedback from the community? I know there are alternatives..

What if users would simply choose to coinjoin because it’s the cheapest way to transact?

Imagine the plausible deniability coinjoins would gain and the benefits for everybody’s privacy.

Despite the SegWit discount, CISA is still worth a try.

HRF is excited to announce the CISA Research Fellowship 🎉

Cross-Input Signature Aggregation (CISA) is a proposed upgrade to Bitcoin that could potentially enhance privacy and provide cost-savings for transactions

HRF is sponsoring a four-month research fellowship to help analyze the state and future of CISA

The product of the fellowship will be an industry paper that seeks to answer the following questions:

1) How could CISA improve Bitcoin privacy?

2) Exactly how much cost-savings could CISA provide across different types of transactions? This will include a comparison of full versus half aggregate implementations.

3) How meaningful might these cost savings be to different industry participants? Given historical precedent, could these cost savings make Taproot the default script type, as Native Segwit is today?

4) Could CISA, if adopted widely, reduce the effectiveness of chain analysis?

5) Could CISA pave the way for cheaper transactions in a high-fee environment?

6) Could CISA lower the minimum economically spendable account at a given fee rate?

7) Could CISA help exchanges by, for example, saving them money while they consolidate small UTXOs?

8) How does CISA compare to other aggregation strategies?

9) Are there any ways in which CISA could help upgrade or complement the Lightning Network, eCash, or existing CoinJoin mechanisms?

10) How might CISA protect the social and legal choice of Bitcoin users and businesses to CoinJoin, and the likelihood of more CoinJoin behavior, if users could state (if asked) that their decision was based on saving money, not simply seeking more privacy?

11) How would Bitcoin Core need to change to integrate CISA? Are there any known current improvement proposals?

12) How would SegWit need to change to integrate CISA?

13) Could CISA be packaged with (and might it be mutually beneficial with) any existing softfork convent proposals?

14) Would CISA have any impact on output destruction versus creation? How would implementation relate to the witness discount?

15) How problematic would the interactive nature of full aggregate CISA be? What strategies might be adopted to ameliorate this?

16) What would be the main downsides and risks of bringing CISA to Bitcoin?

17) How would a CISA-powered for-profit service that could help people save money on fees, if they are willing to enter an interactive pool, work?

18) What other kinds of CISA-powered apps can be envisioned?

The fellowship is being created with the acknowledgement that CISA may not be a helpful or appropriate addition to Bitcoin, but with the open mind that it might be

The fellow will receive 50 million sats to support their efforts during the research and writing period

The research is expected to be on par with the standards established by bitcoinrollups.org, a previous HRF research fellowship paper reviewing rollup technology

To apply, please email cisafellowship@hrf.org before May 15, 2024

Please include relevant information about your industry or academic background, a research plan in terms of who you will speak to, and your current sense of the impact CISA could have for Bitcoin 🙏

Let’s make coinjoins great again!

The freedom you experience here is intoxicating.

Once you are on Nostr it is inconceivable to go back to centralized platforms.

Release time!

In our biggest update yet, we've completely redesigned the home screen, added a nostr-based profile setup walkthrough, and have finished our initial fedimint integrations by adding a federation discovery & recommendations!

Most lightning wallets these days are what we call "invoice-oriented." We want to go back to the basics to solve what people are really trying to do: paying a person. We've added a new wallet creation flow to make the wallet about you!

The new version of Mutiny now allows you to create a new nostr profile, or import a nostr private key from an existing profile. From there, you can now DM other mutiny & nostr users to send or request money directly from the app. No more copy / pasting invoices!

To double down on social, we've redesigned our home screen to put people first. We now include a row of recent profiles for quick access. We also now have tabs on the home screen for looking at your payment activity, your friend's zap activity on nostr, and your payment requests.

Next up, better fedimint support!

Mutiny has had beta support for the fedimint protocol for a couple of months now. Instead of opening a lightning channel on your first receive, with a minimum of 100k sats, you can get started on a fedimint with just a few sats.

This new update adds a way to discover available fedimints to join. Naturally, the discovery process is powered by an open protocol built on nostr. You can see who recommends a federation, and add it with one click.

You'll automatically receive funds to that fedimint, as long as the amount is smaller than 200,000 sats, and you'll automatically spend out of that fedimint, with a fallback to your regular lightning balance. You can also swap from fedimint to your lightning balance at any time.

Coming up shortly after this release, we'll be adding federated lightning addresses that lock incoming payments to your key, which you may redeem at any point by coming back online. We'll be rolling this out to Mutiny+ users first, stay tuned!

Let us know what you think! We're excited about this new direction and need feedback to help us continue driving forward.

Looking forward to trying it out
