When motives can be discussed rationally, and emotion removed from the discussion, it might be worth participating in a discussion.

The discussion on whether a carbon release is a bad thing or not is still ongoing, but we do know that nature increases overall carbon sequestration via plants, in correlation with increases of carbon dioxide content in the atmosphere.
The use of tax dollars to try to permanently sequester carbon is an easier concept to ridicule.
