My son is going to give me a video gaming lesson today. Again.

I grew up in the era of single stick. He bifurcates with two plus a multitude of buttons.

It involves augmented processing, but more importantly, his teaching me helps him to learn soft skills as we bond.

I’m here primarily to teach my sons. Naturally it’s an ability that they will need when they have children of their own, so I make sure to have them teach me things they are passionate about on a regular basis.

It’s quite selfish of me.

Bullying will occur within your Household. Brothers vying for attention, territorial dominance, or even neighborhood bragging rights is a natural part of the Household economy, wherein fights can be frequent and furious, not to mention hard to stomach for overmatched parents.

As annoying and tedious as these transactions are, it seems that this is, yet again, nature’s way of diversifying the skills within the family portfolio in the interest of gaining it advantage. Under marginal duress, siblings incentivize one another to cultivate independent competencies in unrelated domains. With all of the genetic and heirloom similarity, the need to separate from the group is instinctual and pressing. The rough and tumble is a prelude to diversity of family expertise and survivorship.

‘Old Man Strength’ is like old growth timber, aggregated over a long productive life. The rings are tight and dense, as it grows more slowly under competitive conditions. It must work harder for its portion of water, light and territory.

Youthful body building gains supplemented by anabolic steroids are like Home Depot new-growth framing lumber. The rings are bloated and lacking in density, as it grows more quickly in managed forests devoid of incentive for competitive hardening.
