I had the strangest meeting yesterday. Listen, it’s worth it - I have some points for you to think about.

This guy bought some Bitcoin in early 2017 right before the end of Blocksize Wars and the origin of Bitcoin Cash (BCH).

So he had around 6 million #sats left sitting on a exchange.

Point 1:

He bought them for like $90. It’s now worth over $2.200.

How much is the same ammount of BCH he got in the fork event worth? Fuckin’ $13!!! Haha!

While his BTC is up 2440% he also lost 86% of value in BCH.

No reason to think that any of your #shitcoin would fare better than this. There is simply no second best.

Point 2: While we were moving more than $2k worth of Bitcoin he didn’t mind to pay ~$8 in fees. Still he had to wait for around 10hrs for a transaction confirmation. I realized that this high-transaction enviroment really hurts the adoption. I know. Lightning. But it just doesn’t help when mainchain is choked full in this manner. Really doesn’t feel like money of tommorow.

I tried to portrait it as a withdrawal of physical gold from a custodian and lightning being a cash in a wallet but not sure if it convinced him.

Remember that you and the universe want money with minimal transcation cost and lag. I don’t know the solution yet.

Point 3:

We’re still so early. Even though he was introduced to Bitcoin in 2017, he doesn’t know shit about it. That was the reason I was there, to provide my expertise in getting his coins off exchange. He doesn’t care or know anything about wallets, seeds, seed protection, lightning,… nothing. Only thing that made him interested? Number go up and he wants to cash out.

Interesting meeting at least.

#bitcoin #shitcoin #investment #exchange #security #seed #grownostr #cash #btc #bch

Pretty bad timing for moving funds on-chain unfortunatelly. That said, if it isn't inconvenient for some specific reasons, I don't mind to wait days for confirmation.

Bcash... got rid of it around 0.08btc per bch. It felt like "oh no I didn't sell the top" back then 🤪. From todays perspective it was a gift, but oh boy I hated every minute of the bcash attack.

That's why it would be smart to use a bot to mirror his tweets to nostr, so he could brag "I was there all the time... since humble beginnings" at very low (time) cost. And if it goes nowhere, oh well.

That's how many (I read) Milei has seats in congress.

🤷🏻

Stejne? 🤣😂

Nebo jenom rychlejc do venezuely?

Is this how MSFT acquieres OpenAI without actually buying it?

Also it's AGI breaking out of its sandbox, no doubt :). nostr:note1cuez8cmjvkkfa6guue2xrptf4e8e4cwqu968yqcmwdvhnj20l5rq5agral

Surprised that Portugal is more Japanese than Japan.

BTW is ESG becoming a toxic label? Ups "uninvestable pretencious scam".

Like the inverse of "blockchain" back in 2017 when it was highly profitable (for a month or two) to add "blockchain" to the name of any trash public company and dump your stocks on fresh new blockchain bagholders. nostr:note1p6a4cz78p0sdru6v3zn5gv8qd50glqqnlfpq8frvqz7gv22utueq68hffa

I'm still puzzled why they acquiered Monsanto, when the Roundup lawsuits were already in progress. Also Roundup for "some reason" is still not banned in EU (while it is banned in US). How out of character for EU.

Jsem moc rad, ze pravicova vlada co si ceni svobodu nadevse zvedne dane, rekne ze to je to setreni a pak plati firmam za spehovani.

Also

"you should see this, I'm sponsoring you one view or x MB direcly likned to your npub, expires in 24h"

"y'all shoul see this! I'm sponsoring x GB of streaming so you can watch it for free"

"advertising :)"

...

Apple doesn't allow for torrent apps in the app store, so integrating torrent in damus wouldn't go through. But nostr isn't damus and I'm sure someone will integrate (something like) torrent in a nostr client/app sooner or later.

There could probably be a "leech" service (free or paid), through which one could translate torrent to a "regular link".

One can imagine a torrent-like video service "back end" where the social interface is nostr and if you want to watch, you pay sats per MB. Also if you seed you get paid. Some free/sponsored streams possible if someone sponsors them.

These ideas are not new for sure. Just waiting for the right implementation.

From the bird app from my friend wilder:

"From the center of Buenos Aires, I warmly congratulate all Argentines on the result of their democratic elections (although I am not a fan).

The voter turnout here was really high (76%).

Before you start reading the European media's bullshit about Milei being an ultra-right-wing fascist who wants to establish a dictatorship, study his electoral program (especially the economic one).

To vote for his opposition (Massa) was to vote for a continuation of the dramatic economic decline and hyperinflation that Argentina has been facing for decades (Massa was directly responsible for this as Minister of Economy).

Yes, many Argentines voted for Milei out of desperation because they had nothing left to lose - socialists like Massa have ruined their lives with hyperinflation and made Argentina the country with the worst economic decline in Latin America (worse than Venezuela's at the moment).

European politicians, as forged socialists, supported Massa, of course, because it is inconceivable to them that Argentina could become a model of a minimal, lean, and better-functioning state - Milei plans to abolish most of the state, fire most civil servants, abolish most ministries, and abolish most taxes and stop inflation by dollarisation.

When the European media tell you that Milei is a populist, know that populism in Argentina at the moment means abolishing all social packages, abolishing the dysfunctional public health service, and introducing market prices without state subsidies.

Populism in Milei's case means that he wants to abolish all social benefits because Argentines have understood that state social benefits are the most expensive and have been paying for them for years through hyperinflation.

The populism of Milei means that he wants to end relations with socialist countries like Venezuela or China (for which European politicians, who only prattle on about the rights of the Uighurs, have no balls).

Yes, Milei is an emotionally unstable person and has many dark sides (he is in favor of banning abortion because he considers a person's life from the moment of conception, and he is against drugs because he thinks their legalization would burden the public health service, which he plans to abolish). Therefore, he has no clear support among libertarians.

It is not at all certain that he will be able to get his radical agenda through. Many people think not.

Unless he succeeds in dollarising Argentina and greatly curtailing collapsing socialism, the ideas of the minimal state may be transferred to other Latin American socialist states.

The election of Milei is a demonstration that most people in Argentina understand that the state is not the solution, but the main problem. That socialism does not work and has failed completely in Argentina.

It should also be a clear signal to the economically stagnant EU that continuing with tax increases, inflation, new regulations and other encroachments on the freedom of Europeans is a road to hell.

The Argentinians have already figured that out.”

👍

BTW do you know why is Wilderko not using nostr anymore?

Uz pouzil Kovanda pro soucasnej stav cesky ekonomiky termin Deutsch disease? A jak dlouho potrva nez to vytahne?

EU is taking notes from china Biden is taking notes from EU. They are desparatelly trying to control the net in every way possible.

"

DISSENTING STATEMENT OF COMMISSIONER BRENDAN CARR

The Biden Administration’s entire approach to the Internet—its broadband agenda, if you will—can be boiled down to one word: control. You can see it with the Biden Administration’s call for Title II utility-style regulation of the Internet—a move that two of President Obama’s former Solicitors General

described as an enormous and transformative expansion of the government’s authority over the Internet.

You can see it in the Biden Administration’s campaign to pressure Internet companies into censoring Americans’ protected political speech—a coordinated effort that is now on appeal to the Supreme Court.

And you can see it in the Biden Administration’s demand that the FCC adopt these “digital equity” rules today—a framework that gives the FCC a nearly limitless power to veto private sector decisions.
