You aren't supposed to pity yourself. You're just not. You're supposed to pull yourself together and overcome, make yourself useful. Otherwise just slide into oblivion and die; don't make your problems anyone else's problems. You, as a man, are inherently not worth helping. You can't have kids.

nostr:npub1pnpez7cn4h04pxg07dmmklzyz7u7fm0w2ddrw220qh785rq3m42ql452zw it orginates on old dumb terminals from like the 70s and 70s, where it was used to send special signals back to the host-- dumb terminals typically only do two-way text "conversations" but in some cases you might want to send special, non-text signals back. An example was "ctrl-d" which would send an end-of-file marker on some unixy systems, or ctrl+c which would abort the current process. There are also host-to-terminal control codes that do things like positioning the text cursor or changing text somewhere on the screen that's already been sent, to, for example, emulate a GUI on these normally text-only interfaces.

These signals were called "control codes."
