this term refers to the trend of placing western cultures (including us) at the center of the discourse. i used it as the closest to what i meant, though not all developed countries are western, ofc
and still, i think both developing and developed countries are in trouble – new tech will probably invented it developed countries, but would be used in developing ones as well.
centralisation of power is the main problem here, developed countries have more opportunities to resist repressive laws because they have well-established social institutions, while developing ones may lack such institutions, leading to a quicker erosion of liberties.
btw, there are some updates on Protasevich and Sapega case - you can learn what happens with independent journalists when they do (and do not) coordinate with a velvet dictatorship, and how sometimes only public outcry can help 🤕
