I’m in my happy place. There’s a little break in the action at work. It’s cloudy and cool outside. I have a candle burning and music playing, while I sit and write in a comfy chair.

It’s going to be beautiful this weekend. Sunny, low humidity, and mid 70s. It’s not fall yet, not even close, but a shift has occurred.

This weekend is the last hurrah for the grands. Two little girls sleeping over tonight. Making pizza. Back to school on Tuesday. Lots of new sneakers and book bags.

A year ago this time, I had just broken 1k followers on Medium. I had finally begun earning and was seeing average payouts of $300 or so. I will finish off this month with over 9k followers and I’m in line to make just over $3k for the month.

There are no tricks. You need to write often and write well. I write 12-15 articles a month on average (500 total). One or two will make all the money, and you never know which they will be.

Write. The rest takes care of itself eventually.

I don’t miss Twitter, at all, but I miss the direct access to companies and organizations.

Explain to me what a centrist platform would be in the US. Walk me through it. Most of the major issues don’t have a middle. They’re binary. What’s the purpose of government? Do you value democracy? Is body autonomy a fundamental right? What about public education and the separation of church and state?

I realize the only news outlet liberals love to hate more than The NY Times is CNN, but Mark Thompson, former fixer at the Times, is a good choice to take over CNN. I am not a fan of television news but it exists and it might as well be as good as it can be.

Never mind the danger to life and limb, we’re not going to be able to withstand the economic impact of climate change before long. Every time I see another car underwater in Florida I think, “how can we just keep doing this?”
