No one should be dependent on zaps like no one is actually dependent on tips IRL. Zaps havenāt been fully developed yet. Youāll see many applications for zaps soon including zapwalled content in which case they arenāt going to be just tips
Zaps arenāt meant for purchases or fundraisers. I think some clients are implementing these in separate UIs.
Users zap for different reasons but mostly as a reciprocal value for value transaction. Itās a clever way to tip content creators and open source developers without third parties.
I think both are important but I was thinking few days ago of merging the two.

Internet identity system works but itās far from ideal. Unidentified entities are more likely to get black listed from part of the open internet than to be white listed. Identified entities that should normally be whitelisted may get blocked based on their traffic source. Itās less risky to deny than to allow.
Blacklists are shared extensively among internet services providers. Whitelists are not. Thereās a huge margin of error in these lists and no clear way to appeal. In fact, personal email servers are blacklisted by default from other big email providers and that is just one example.
This approach is alluring for well connected organizations but dissatisfying for small and less connected ones as well as individuals. Hence, whitelisting is less appreciated, used and developed. No economic incentive for major providers.
nostr may change that.
I have duplicates. I think almost all regular users have too. Whatās a short period of time?
Whitelisting is under- used, developed and appreciated
The likelihood of getting censored by a relay is far greater than getting that from Amethyst.
Not watching the conference but enjoying the snippets I read here
