Pi4 8 GB is syncing a Fulcrum electrum server again after a db corruption. It's been syncing for over a week, and is currently at 94%.
Just started syncing Fulcrum on a real server with 10 year old hardware, started it about 15 minutes ago.
Which will complete first? If I was a betting man (and I am), I'd guess the latter.
GM, today is a great day to take self-custody of all of your bitcoin
On a long enough timeline, FDIC insurance trends to infinity
Been in the works for a while. Will be incredible. One liquidity pool and any number of coordinators. That plus multi party Tx0 is the dream
When creating a wallet on Samourai, you are *encouraged* to connect to your own node first. If you do that, they will *never* have your xpub.
The whirlpool coordinator does not take an xpub, that’s just the backing server to Samourai wallet that does. Which is why you should use your own.
The coordinator is blinded and only knows of the individual UTXOS that are being published as available to mix, and by default samourai wallet changes Tor identities after each UTXO that is mixed, so that even IP addresses aren’t linked.
My recommendation is to always run your own node so you don’t have to trust anyone, that includes samourai.
Appreciate it y'all. Findings were interesting.

Can someone DM me, testing reading DMs in gossip. TY
"US banking is safe" is the new "vaccine is safe and effective"
I've finally got https://github.com/mikedilger/gossip to work again after being stuck in broken database migrations for weeks. It is looking much prettier now, and with some nice extra features.
Just started using gossip today, it's awesome. Main thing I feel I'm missing from the other clients I use (primarily Damus and Iris) is rendering images inline on posts, and being able to zap/see zaps.
One cool thing you can do in Gossip is encrypt your nsec with a passphrase. That way, each time you fire up Gossip, you have to enter the passphrase before being able to post or make edits to your profile.
It basically carries the same risks as using a mobile app, although sometimes computer can have a higher attack surface. Still much more secure than pasting into a web client.
Building from source is preferable to running a .deb file (I forgot I *had* to build from source because I am running it on macOS), especially since Gossip doesn't seem to have signatures on the files, meaning you cannot verify that the files are signed and approved by the lead dev.
#[0] is there a way to show DMs in Gossip? I have "Show Direct Messages" enabled in Settings, but still cannot find them anywhere.
That is correct. It even has a way of adding a passphrase so that when you open the Gossip client, you can't get write access to your account until you enter the passphrase. Really cool.
S/O to #[0] for the new NIP-05 identifier. Appreciate you
Desktop only, you have to build from source. Pretty easy to do since it's written in Rust.
Thank you #[0] for pointing me towards Gossip. This client is badass.
And thank you #[1] for building it!
Running Gossip on M1.
Feels like the Sparrow Wallet of Nostr clients.
