Nostr can’t be compared to Bitcoin. From the start, it was captured by VCs, and I was bullish at first but my expectations was killed by captured devs with none profit $ I’ve decided to leave for good. Damus iOS technically censors you from creating an empty post. true freedom on nostr means the ability to create empty posts. Don’t let them take this from you

we should have spec’d nostr:nevent… as @nevent… instead. Would have saved a lot of pain and confusion for users and implementors.

If you do @nevent… in damus it will convert it to nostr:nevent… at the protocol level, but maybe it should have just been @nevent because people try to do this now in other clients and it doesn’t work :[

for what its worth, if you manually type nostr: then the nostr object it should work in all clients, but I don’t think people know that.

I’ve heard this sentiment so many times and I don’t get it. Are we not supposed to integrate bitcoin into things? Apparently nostr is a “ddos” on bitcoin development 😆?? What does it have to do with bitcoin? We simply use lightning for payments, and many other protocols should too!

after working on Damoose (safari extension), it seems nostore is pretty insecure because it exposes your private key to the javascript environment.

Since we store your key in the iOS keystore, we can just access this from the plugin background process instead of the browser's javascript runtime environment.

We can sandbox the plugin process to disable outgoing networking connection, so it can only send messages to and from the browser, so it should be way more secure than what nostore was doing.

the idea is that damus can protect your nsec from nostr websites, otherwise they could swipe it and send it to their server. It uses nip07 which allows nostr webapps to sign things but not read your key.

I want to also add protections against wiping and corrupting your profile/contact data, which buggy nostr clients can do by accident.
