Adaptive radiation refers to the adaptation (via genetic mutation) of an organism which enables it to successfully spread, or radiate, into other environments. Adaptive radiation often happens after a mass extinction; many habitats are no longer inhabited by organisms because they have gone extinct. With new habitats available, some species will adapt to the new environments and new species evolve to fill those available habitats.
We are currently on the brink of the next mass (financial) death, the death of fiat money. When fiat money dies, it will become clear where and in how many ways fiat has given false incentives to humanity. The demise of the current dominant type of money will leave the habitat of money empty and give room to the most potent and fit species for an adaptive monetary radiation. This will be bitcoin. Bitcoin is just waiting for it and is very eager to occupy that very niche. And from there, just like genetic innovation during the Cambrian Explosion, innovation will flourish and be the foundation for the next cycle of innovation (not just technological but even more social and political) for humanity.

We're watching the bottom-up monetization of an asset in real time. Such processes have taken centuries to millennia in the past. Of course, something going from 0 to billions and trillions has high volatility on its way and still some dependence on the ailing fiat. Bitcoin is only 13 years old. No human has ever had the chance to observe the monetization of an asset in real-time. We are also in the end game of fiat, which will increase volatility. However, the volatility and dependence on fiat will diminish with time and acceptance. For now, the volatility is strongly caused by hype cycles which are also necessary in the starting phase of the monetization of a commodity to bring in new people in waves and flush out the gain seekers in the depression phase and thereby transferring Bitcoin from weak to strong hands, hardening the asset and make Bitcoin more scarce and valuable.
Separation of bitcoin & crypto must happen before separation of money & state.
