The BIG REALISATION that I had about Centralised Social Media...

Let me share a story before I get to my realisation.

It has been two months now when I joined the #tiktok movement pay off my debt. This is a Tiktok challenege to help people with less than 10k to gain followers to 10k and in the process - hopefully can join the "Tiktok' Creator Fund". When people follows you, you can choose to follow them back to increase your following - in a nutshell. The caveat though, even you reached 10k, you still need 100,000 views in 30 days! Sounds easy right? Not so! Just because you have the following it is not automatic they engage with your content. The stats is showing differently. Even you are great content creator and with amazing efiting skills, keeping up with the content creation and making sure you follow all the rules of the algorithm, making sure you stand out in the 3 sec rule of attention grabbing was really exhausting and was burning me out.

Which led to my realisation:

1.) I am heavily invested in a platform which could easily kicked me out or locked me out! All my hard work will be for nothing. A report from whoever has an ill intent would mean - my page could be banned overnight. We have seen this from Kyle Marrisa Roth ( RIP) - famous tiktoker whom lost her account and income stream because Tiktok banned her acct.

2.) The effort of entry to get notice and to rab attention from the centralised platform is too resource intensive especially from a one woman production! I am certain content creator out there can relate to this!

3.) The algorithm is very unpredictable! It is easy for those who made that "you do not have to beat the algorithm!". But this is a BS. As a former programmer, a line of code could easily filter out your content from the billions of content in the same platform let alone standing out from other centralised platform! It is NOT NEWS anymore that in order to get your content to people, you have to pay the price! This is how these platforms thrive!

4.) Lastly, Comformity & Income Stream. I am always conforming to the crowd because I am worried that what I'd say may offend people regardless whether I care or not, the platform has the last say!

Income stream: it is early days but with the use of sats, there are plenty of opportunity here. I do not have to reach a certain following before I get a zap nor do I need to beat the algorithm!

The bottom line, I will use my followers (not that much but every lil helps!) to introduce #nostr and help grow its user base. #grownostr I'd rather be in a platform where I know I have more say on my data & control so I know my effort will not go to waste! So far, my experience in this community has been nothing BUT VERY HELPFUL & ACCOMMODATING! 🫰❤️

#bitcoin culture is shifting without any doubts! I have been here since 2017 and in my personal opinion, we started seeing true faces who are who and what their purpose is! Sometimes I want just to nuke myself from anything happening in this industry and enjoy my life but I feel like I still needed over here for some reason! Pretty weird how the media just spent the entire day trying to convince us that every democrat in America loves Kamala, has loved Kamala from the start, and thinks she will handily beat Donald Trump. Even weirder is how they never said anything remotely like that, ever, anywhere, in any way shape or form before today.
