One possible (unlikely) way: A pool was mining an empty block in the short time it takes ebtween block N being found and block N+1 template being broadcast from the pool to miners.

Using Stratum, mining pools have to create block templates for miners to work. When block # N gets mined, it takes a fraction of a second to create a template for block N+1. To keep their miners hashing while working on the new template, a pool can prep and broadcast an empty block to mine in the meantime. If that empty block is found, bam!

But, I doubt that’s the usual case; it would require very quick discovery of two blocks in a row. The difficulty adjustment makes that unlikely.

Yes that’s the one. I’ve used it for espresso in a Rancilio Silvia machine, where there is no pressure control - you just have to get the grind right - and the Vario produces the right grind in the high 1-low 2 range. But its 6 range is great for Aeropress, 7 for most drip makers, Kalita, Hario V60, etc, and 10 for French press and for cold brew with the Rumble Jar. Nothing you can’t do. And it comes with a hex wrench to recalibrate it.

Only two minor complaints. (a) the portafilter holder makes a mess, so I just use the basket catch and pour the grinds into the filter. (b) I don’t use the timed dispense. Instead I weigh beans in with a scale. That actually works great. You get back within 0,1 g of the beans you put in.

10/10 would buy again. But I don’t have to buy again, because it runs great.

Gorgeous. Have to agree. Every glass on my bar is a small town antique shop or market… It’s amazing, you simply can’t buy quality new. 💜🍸

I think the communally important question is whether nvk is going to exchange your formerly-yours sats for fiat. Which, um, no, LOL.
