Progress report on the doggy....after copious time hand sanding it's looking smoother and more refined....any input appreciated!
It isn't finished but progress and proof of work is taking place! 
After the pleasing outcome of the tiny dog I carved previously, I decided to make a slightly larger one to enable me to put a little more detail into it.....what do we think so far? 
Tiny Schnauzer dog woodcarving is now painted and ready to show!
Measuring in at approx 1in x 1/2in, carved in basswood and finished with teak oil before painting with watered down acrylics.
This carving tested my knife handling abilities that's for sure!

After much work and practice I'm pleased to present the work so far on my latest favourite woodcarving, a little dude wearing a parka jacket ))
I'm particularly happy with the facial expression (something I've been working hard on)
Should I paint it? Or simply oil it?
For my latest woodcarving I wanted to explore layering including hats and hair, as well as explore positioning the legs a little differently. Also to further my exploration of mouths without beards... How did I do? 
Can someone post an image of the moon and the stars please? Here in the UK the geoengineering is blocking it out night after night.
After much effort and failed experiments I present my latest carving....a 1960s peace loving hippie! Carved from 1x1x3 inch basswood. Particularly pleased with how the long hair turned out as it's the first time I've attempted it ))

Another woodcarving finished...this time I aimed to improve my ability to carve mouths and expressions, as well as add more depth of cut to the carvings. How did i do? 
Finished carving a little basswood priest complete with dog collar and eyebrows and a little cross ))
Improved and worked on how to accurately portray mouths in a carving, think it looks ok....
