What is the best open end up end encrypted messenger that has a good cli client for most platforms to send messages from scripts?

I currently use signal-cli, but looking for a change.

- signal-cli requires java, quite specific versions and it's hard to install / upgrade on nas devices. I would much prefer a self contained binary (like restic does)

- signal starts requiring captchas, especially over vpn. Not good for scripts

- telegram? Lol. No.

- matrix could be nice, if there is good self contained cli client. I don't need to receive currently, only send. Any tips?

- simplex - after fighting with haskell and not being able to compile it according to instructions neither on macos, nor on Linux. Binaries don't work (mac is x86 only, not arm64, Linux - I don't use Ubuntu)

- session maybe? Is there any good cli?

- I need push notifications to work reliably

There also should be feature to rebroadcast old posts. Sometimes I send post on some experimental client and figure out after some time it has no stats, but Plebstr see it. Or some bug in Plebstr itself.

Is there a simple and user friendly (preferably open-source) way to run Android apps (through either play store or aurora/fdroid) on a desktop (mac/linux/windows)?

There are some ways to run it in Android simulator, but the architecture usually does not match, so it does not run well and running Android simulator is not very user friendly. I mean more like "double click and run this app" rather than starting Android studio, creating a VM profile and running it in a phone.

It would look similarly to how you can run iPhone and iPad apps on a Mac. Just install from app store, there is an app and it opens in its own window and just works.

Huge improvement proposal for Nostr clients - if I post something and relay connections are not very good (bad internet, relay outages, I exit the app too soon), hold the post in local storage and retry later automatically.

If the note is not seen by enough relays, keep retrying.

It happens to me quite often that I post / reply only to find out that the post is long gone and not stored on any relays.

Happened with Damus, Plebstr and Iris at least...

Good example why Nostr needs some kind of FUP. Maybe paid by the publisher.

Not only for exploitation of relays for hosting anything, but also for preventing spam.

Honest content will be in profit thanks to zaps. Spams replying to each post will be too expensive. Images and videos could be in Nostr protocol itself and stored on relays.

Breez doesn't get mentioned enough imo. Lower fees than phoenix, good routing never seems to fail, iOS and Android, optional Tor built in. Can run LN commands right in the client.

Ačkoliv tvoří polovinu jeho obsahu výčet všeho, co bude dle této normy nově složitější, komplikovanější, co vše bude nově potřeba navíc, jak se prodlouží příprava a realizace a jak přibude práce všem ve stavebnictví zůčastněným profesím, logický důsledek toho všeho, tedy že to opět výstavbu (pravděpodobně výrazně) prodraží konstatován není. Že to opět logicky zaplatí stavebník už vůbec ne.

2. Proč mi to jen připomíná vývoj limitů CO2 a NOx u spalovacích motorů. Budeme mít nějakou novou VW gate? Pardon, Strabag či Skanska gate?

I am writing my own client. (React PWA) and right now I am dealing with how to store the nsec securely across sessions.

I thought to check how Iris and Snort deal with the issue and found out they both store they in plain text in localStorage.

I am by no means a security expert or a pen tester, but I was under the impression, that storing sensitive data in localStorage leaves the data vulnerable to XSS attacks, which in case of an nsec seems kinda dangerous, as there is no additional level of protection (like a password, 2fa or literally anything else), no way to replace the key and invalidate the old one.

Am I missing something here, or are both apps leaving users vulnerable to XSS attacks?

I myself havent found any better solution that does not require the use of browser extensions (which some browsers do not allow) given how the keys work right now. Does anybody have a decent solution?
