While I love engaging with everyone on #nostr. The thing that really clicked for me and helped me decide that this was a social network meant for me was when I started backing up my relay on my nostr:npub1aghreq2dpz3h3799hrawev5gf5zc2kt4ch9ykhp9utt0jd3gdu2qtlmhct
I used to keep a journal with pen and paper, and the content looked a lot like my notes I leave on here. However, my handwriting is terrible as I have trouble properly gripping a pen. 10 years ago it wasn't so bad, but anymore it is pretty brutal. Anyway, I loved keeping a journal and for a long time I really didn't do much thinking and putting it down in print, permanently as a record for my progeny. I think that is a good way to truly get to know someone. I really wanted to leave some kind of record of who I am for my kids and their kids and the generations that will hopefully follow. I tried several times just starting a .doc for them to read but could not keep up the motivation. (I think this is where you all come in, keeping me motivated! This is the power of social media.)
I love nostr (vs. twitter, Tumblr, etc.) because my relay backs up to my umbrel. So all notes I publish are available and uncensored for my kids to hopefully read one day. Hopefully they will get an idea of who their old man is, for better and worse, and any little nuggets of wisdom they can glean are their's to keep forever. So, while I love the engagement with all of you, I am posting for those who will come after me.

Miljan, I'm sure this is way down on your priority list, but it would be awesome if primal was integrated with the nostr:npub1aghreq2dpz3h3799hrawev5gf5zc2kt4ch9ykhp9utt0jd3gdu2qtlmhct nostr app so non-techies could ensure their events are backed-up on their local hardware relay.
yusss, when primal adds the ability to change your relays, it’d be super simple to add your umbrel relay on it
that said, we’ve been cooking something that would allow you to backup your posts even if your nostr client is *not* connected to the private relay on your umbrel 👀

Ah, it could possibly be due to your node having difficulty connecting to other nodes via Tor. If you’d like to disable Tor, you can do that from the “…” menu on the top right and enable clearnet and I2P connections.
