@plebstr is great all in all.

But it also has some major design issues.

1 - there are no push notifications.

2- Notifcations and messages are hidden, so there is no way to know if someone interacted with your notes unless you swipe to see them.

Feedback for #plebstr when searching for someone with the npub, most of the times nothing appears, have to cancel and repaste the npub for me to see it

There are proposals to fix this, but the current system has been around for years.

What’s also interesting to me is that Bluesky is also punting on DM’s and encryption. They might link to your matrix profile for DM, basically use matrix for chat and DM’s which isn’t a terrible idea but does at a lot of complexity.

My main worry with both the fediverse and bluesky’s lack of tackling encryption and privacy is that you lose the ability to do interesting private groups.
