In it for the freedom.

Hey, please retweet for visibility. There is a scammer who makes websites that so far have ended in '.pages.dev" and emulates airdrops for popular "altcoin" projects. Previously Optimism, Arbitrum and now Layer Zero (shown Below) they set up shop with #[0] .to names to look more legitimate.

If you go to the website they try to get you to connect your wallet to receive an airdrop, but if you do, it will definitely steal your "altcoins." They interact with people in our network by replying or boosting (aka retweeting).

This is really only a problem for "multicoin" nostr users, as it's looking for something that can do a Wallet Connect thing with, so Maxis are safe, but in the spirit of tolerance, I'm looking out for the non-maxi Nostr community here.

Oh man. Turns out I was wrong and they don't have a separate Nostr coin. They use Lightning Bitcoin. So I picked up the rest of my money in that.

I put all my money in this Nostr thing I keep hearing about, and I am ready to start zapping!

(Cross-posted from a 5 tweet thread thread)

Years of Bitcoin Twitter being the main app where discussing Bitcoin happens recently has had effects on the community. It rewards short-hot extreme takes. The more extreme, the better. This causes the most engagement, which causes the algorithm to reward you but is it good for the community?

Also, I am in my second tweet. This is because I am a nym, and nyms have a character limit, as did everyone for most of Twitter's history. Concepts that required more nuance than 280 characters allowed simply were stripped down to a all-or-nothing version of the argument. (Any change to Bitcoin is an attack on Bitcoin.) BitcoinTalk, or even.. Redd.. well at least BitcoinTalk had much higher level conversations.

Enter Nostr.

No Algorithms. No Character limits

I really think the Bitcoin community spending years communicating primarily over Twitter is the main culprit in the cartoonish version of the Bitcoin maximalist.

To keep on getting picked up by the algorithm, you have to be more and more extreme than the rest of the crowd.

How can you display any nuance in 280 characters?

You can't. You can write a metaphor. You can quote someone else's tweet and dunk on them.

Nostr will reward real content creators with the world's best money.

Twitter rewarded shitposters with followers.

So the Inscription of the Magazine went for 1.25 btc ($37,760.59) to Trevor Owens (He's a Stacks Guy)

A funny thing is Casey (who created Ordinals and Inscriptions) HATED Stacks. Because it created an altcoin token. (Rootstock which is also doing similar stuff didn't.) Stacks JUMPED on this craze and integrated it into their wallet and it was the first mobile wallet (I think at least) to allow inscriptions. You can get things like that done faster when you print money out of thin air.

Well, pre cocaine-bowie... included this funny song featuring Bowie meeting a Gnome and making plenty of Gnome puns.

"What's that clicking noise?

That's Fred, he's a metro-gnome!"

The Gnome voice was a sped up recorded producer Gus Dudgeon famous for Elton John's most acclaimed recordings, Bowie's Space Oddity, Zombie's She's Not There and much more, although the song was produced by Mike Vernon who produced the first two Fleetwood Mac albums and worked with Clapton in the 1966 Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton LP.

Released April 14, 1967

(Same year as Beatles Sgt. Peppers)

I assume it's some funding thing. That they get money from Bill Gates if they teach the youth about eating bugs when they have their guards down because they are coming up on molly.

Love this. Its the scary guy from Inglorious Bastards.

If you're at Coachella this year and you don't like music (?) perhaps you are there to hear some lectures.

"How the Moon's wobble can make sea level rise worse"

"Plant-forward Nutrition for a Healthier Population"

Or you can catch twice

"Insects are the Headliners at Every Dinner Table."

(entirely serious)

If you use Amethyst, I highly recommend people switch from WoS to using Alby because of Amethyst Wallet Connect. 2 click zaps. (Click Lightning bolt, click which zap amount) no opening your lightning Wallet. Also you get to pick your LNURL. That's cool. Not really sure why WoS doesn't have the technology to let you do that. Doesn't seem like it would be the most impressive part of their business.

Has anyone heard of the relay https://nostr.inosta.cc ? It just popped up

Maybe I clicked on something, but I don't know what. Lol. It's only 5k sats. Should I do it?

Yo. I got Alby's Nostr Wallet connect to work in Amethyst and now I don't have to open any apps to zap.

Probably bad for my stack. Decades from now, this will be my pizza moment.

Having the most trouble with the Alby-Nostr wallet connect but it will be worth it! So when I click the QR code the first two are filled in. Does anyone know if the last box is just my Nostr nsec?

No Privacy? No Freedom. No Freedom? No Wealth.

——————————

> Wealth requires freedom: the ability to make decisions without coercion. Freedom requires privacy: the ability to selectively reveal yourself to the world. Rights are not granted: they are earned through struggle and defended through sacrifice.

Privacy is essential to freedom. Without privacy, individuals are unable to make choices free from surveillance and control. Lack of privacy leads to loss of autonomy. When individuals are constantly monitored it limits our ability to express ourselves and take risks. Any decisions we make can result in negative repercussions from those who surveil us. Without the freedom to make choices, individuals cannot truly be free.

Freedom is essential to acquiring and preserving wealth. When individuals are not free to make choices, restrictions and limitations prevent us from economic opportunities. If we are somehow able to acquire wealth in such an environment, lack of freedom can result in direct asset seizure by governments or other malicious entities. At scale, when freedom is compromised, it leads to widespread economic stagnation and poverty. Protecting freedom is essential to economic prosperity.

The connection between privacy, freedom, and wealth is critical. Without privacy, individuals lose the freedom to make choices free from surveillance and control. While lack of freedom prevents individuals from pursuing economic opportunities and makes wealth preservation nearly impossible. No Privacy? No Freedom. No Freedom? No Wealth.

Rights are not granted. They are taken and defended. Rights are often misunderstood as permission to do something by those holding power. However, if someone can give you something, they can inherently take it from you at will. People throughout history have necessarily fought for basic rights, including privacy and freedom. These rights were not given by those in power, but rather demanded and won through struggle. Even after these rights are won, they must be continually defended to ensure that they are not taken away. Rights are not granted - they are earned through struggle and defended through sacrifice.

Great piece. Jack Ma only reappeared because the state decided not to kill him.

Well, the qr is the one that starts lndhub://, so I assume it's the bottom box, the relay, not the pubkey.

Alby has nothing that they call a pub key (because that would make it way too easy if they did) there's something called a custom key. However with the current combination I'm trying, the app is crashing.

I'm try to connect my alby account to Amethyst's Wallet Connect. The first box, wallet connect pubkey, what do I put there?
