It's a statistical thing. Our schools are dedicated to team sports now, where our children are taught to cheat if you can get away with it, injure the star players on the other side if you can, and winning games is the most important thing a school provides its students. Follow the money. HS football and basketball coaches make large multiples of teachers' salaries and more is spent on sports facilities than on classrooms. Team loyalty becomes nationalism.

There are a lot of different kinds of people. I wouldn't describe gay people that way, but straight people, yes. I wouldn't describe women that way, but men, yes. May be its not about them at all though. May be people who want stuff are like that and the more they want the more like it they become. From outside the US seems to regard stuff above all, certainly above people, above kindness, love, fairness and loyalty.
