The nostr:npub16rd8lagwh224jkyu3v5vehkjtnxmz7t7zfuc9ltsg04qpp87xc7sfh3v3k client is really, really bad about projecting how long an upload for a large directory hierarchy will take.

An hour ago it said: 3 days. Then 5 mins ago it said: 2 minutes. Now it says: 1 day.

Maybe average more than the last 10 seconds?

FireFish, huh. Sure better than Calckey ! At least I can pronounce it 🙂

Congratulations nostr:npub1kn687px0m7den6hcc2z5vvvmyu0qy94plh7x2yvfuar3p5fljlvq6yks0g and crew.

So apparently there is a non-trivial number of Russian tourists vacationing in Crimea.

I am at a loss.

nostr:npub1u27r9h3j9pvrplaffsmpn698e8xhmuqhdgcxldv67ammql9pumnqha3qfq you can just start a California coop. Non-residents can be members.

For #CoSocialCa we restrict membership to Canadian residents because most privacy, copyright, consumer protection etc. laws apply nationally. It's hard enough to run a good service domestically without having to deal with remote members.

But different coops have different needs.

nostr:npub1w7agf7akg5kqzjrc9ulhezf3c8n3v8q9vp6hkxatm6nfak6swzyqe9tpn3 Are you certain about out-of-state (out-of-country?) members? I seem to have read something in the statute that sounded very much it was an in-state only thing under california state law, but then I'm not a lawyer and have not spent much time on it yet.

What's the temperature you associate with raw veggies?

I think for most people, it's cold: you go to the fridge, get that raw veggie, and eat it cold as it was in the fridge.

But if you grow your own veggies, it's warm. The sunshine still lingers once you bite in.

Very strange, on some level.

Happy warm Kohlrabi afternoon snack!

Anybody know of a #cooperative (#coop) that has members around the world, in several jurisdictions? How would one go about that?

Death Valley went to 123F today. Fortunately, it has cooled down a bunch since.

Right now, at almost midnight, it’s a mere 104F.

nostr:npub1xyauuypeehfjnplhffgfdne6j4h9662n8amwyjd6s7e492zyy66qcumjdg that does not sound familiar, and I kinda doubt I would have forgotten reading a 1971 sci-fi tale. But thank you for trying to jog my memory…

Feeling too hot in southern Europe? Maybe a bit of ice … say, 5 inches in diameter … to be delivered straight from above?

I don’t remember the name of the #scifi novel, but there was this line that stuck: when the ocean water in the Caribbean Sea actually started boiling, that finally got their attention.

Apparently we are already at 100F.

nostr:npub1l6jl5hymw45wywn9pdquldfk5hj9ky2r5ethdm03ryam825ul0jqt6jvn7 “biggest competitor” = Meta. The competition isn’t just the product as-is, but the space that the product could be taking going forward. Before Meta just had some well defended borders well away from Twitter proper, now they have launched right into its core territory.

With #ai growing as it has, the next US presidential #election next year is going to be full of very realistic looking and sounding #disinformation pieces. Very possible that far more generated pieces will be shared on #social media than authentic ones, and nobody can tell the difference. Also, one side of the political spectrum will use it more, and benefit from it far more than the other.

What shall be do about this to prepare? Nothing? What can we do?

Greetings from the airport in Phoenix, AZ, where it apparently is 110F (43C) at 8pm. Whoever thought building a major city here was a good idea…

Public townsquare? Permanent record? Full transparency? Bluesky?

Somebody put all of #Bluesky's posts so far in one single database.

Note AFAIK everything that happens on Bluesky is public, and can never be deleted. So this is not a bug, this is a feature, according to their architecture.
