It's a matter of culture. It's a matter of values and daily priorities chosen at the individual level.
We have to raise children to value certain types of work and see the natural tendency towards shedding responsibility as a sin. Communities must value self-defense and natural recycling of waste, self-managed water collection and purification, universal participation in small scale farming/gardening, etc.
Our current global capitalist culture values a lazy individual because lazy individuals buy lots of services and gadgets.

Humans are lazy. We want to shed responsibility. That's the natural part. Water flows downhilll; humans seek less responsibility, more leisure.
We will always choose, in some degree, to give over some power if it relieves us of a responsibility that makes room in our mind and lives to focus more accutely on the responsibilities we choose. Work, family, etc.
Removing the friction of turnover is the most important bit. Governments, Massive and central, are entirely too hard to turn-over. To turn-over a bad policy about schools would require violent revolution against the military, the courts, the police, the roads, the power plants, etc. all.
We need micro-government such that we can turn over the schools without disrupting the police. Turn over the militia without turning over the money we have saved our whole lives in. Turn over the power plant administration without losing the court of law.

I presume there's a way to use my nos2x extension on this notabot thing, but it doesn't work for me. Am I doing something wrong?
There is also a 'nonce' in the tags array that has a '16' value at the end of the nonce array. I think thats what gossip is using because 16 bits is only 2 characters, I think, while I have 4 or 5 zeros on some of these posts, so it's not counting the zeros, I don't think.
It seems the "id" has leading zeros if work has been done. At least the way gossip has implemented it.

POW=16 is basically unnoticable on my laptop, using gossip client.
I really think the clients should at least render if POW has been done. Then worry about how to use the fact later. #[4] #[3] #[1] #[2]

The thing about military history and the nature of power is that you don't get the benefit of a weapon/technology advantage, socially or economically, without demonstrating your power. This typically involves bloodshed. It may yet require that, as far as history tells us. If you're not willing to suffer the consequences of violence to defend yourself, you will be conquered. You'll have to demonstrate the consequences to get the benefit. (See: NK missle tests, nuclear blast tests)
Bitcoin is a power, an agency in the world independent of all others. As if my own body acts or my engine burns, my missle fly, my miner hash, my node verify. Sovereign. It doesn't matter the mathematics of the monetary policy, if people don't see its power demonstrated they will continue to fear the reprisals or capture and control. We need to demonstrate our ability to evade capture or reprisals.
We should welcome all attacks. Attacking Bitcoin is improving Bitcoin. When we demonstrate ourselves invincible, they will have a choice to make. Stop money printing or die.
