“Jinny’s Kitchen” is the best reality show I’ve seen in a while.

Imagine Drake, Justin Bieber and Robert Downey Jr opened a restaurant in South Korea. And they cook street food with a goal of clearing $1000.

Those stars are \*too\* famous, though. “Jinny’s” works because — while

South Korean pop culture is ascendant — its biggest stars are a little less recognizable in the West.

The show is set up in a resort town in Mexico and its cast includes:

▫️Kim Tae-Hyung (“V” from super massive boy band BTS)

▫️Choi Woo-sik (actor, Parasite)

▫️Park Seo-joon (actor, The Marvels)

Nothing really happens other than the stars prepping, cleaning, cooking and serving South Korean street food (but as any reality star observer knows, viewers love celebs doing normal stuff).

The show also capitalizes on Jenga story-telling, which is when you know the outcome but watch anyways (in Jenga, you know the tower will fall; on the show, you know some patrons will spot the celebs).

Finally, “Jinny’s Kitchen” showcases South Korean food, which is a smart hook. Over 50% of the content is watching people try South Korean dishes for the first time (bibimbap, tteokbokki, Korean corn dogs).

The show is crushing on Amazon Prime right now, top 15 worldwide (and #1 in many Asian countries).

I’m shocked at how much I’m enjoying it (hence this long tweet). Now gotta find some beef bulgogi.
