Decentralized YouTube!

#[1] won’t see this with all the notifications! Lol

I don’t mind the random zaps but these threads are quite something!

My #NostrClock update:

Since starting to use Nostr I made about 30,000 sats, and redistributed most if not all of them.

30,000 sats is “only” about $12.

HOWEVER … that $12 is now in the hands of Nostr users. It’s not in the hands of a billionaire who owns the platform and who makes money off its users.

#PowerToThePeople

In the spirit of #MarchOffTwitter, did you know you can “follow” Twitter users or any RSS feed on Nostr?

For Twitter, you can use privacy centric website Nitter to get a RSS feed for Twitter users. This is anonymous; no sign up required.

One you have a RSS feed URL you can then use https://rsslay.nostr.net. Simply input the RSS feed URL and it will automatically generate a public key you can follow using your Nostr client.

🤯😍

You can use RSS feeds to post to Nostr. When you set it up it creates an npub which you can follow. I don’t have the site handy but let me know if you are interested and I’ll dig it up.

Nostr is not a messaging protocol that aims to replace Twitter.

In an internet dominated by Meta, Twitter, TikTok and others, pause for a moment and imagine a decentralized internet. Imagine living a day not dictated by algorithms! What to watch next? Which picture you will most likely double tap next? Which video will suck the most time out of you so you can be services more ads?

I have to admit i was once naive and I got into Bitcoin a while back just to make money. Just like I got into Nostr to replace Twitter in my life. I was wrong on both counts! Bitcoin is not about becoming rich; Nostr is not about just replacing Twitter.

Imagine a decentralized internet.

- A decentralized marketplace?

- A decentralized GoFundMe?

- A decentralized GitHub?

That’s what the Nostr protocol enables. In fact, #[0] is even offering hundreds of millions of sats to support such initiatives! https://bountsr.org/

Nostr has so much potential beyond being just another Twitter replacement. Use cases are endless and I can’t wait to see what’s next!

The current internet is about making a handful of billionaires richer. Let’s change that and let’s make billions of lives better instead!

Who’s with me?

To be honest I have not tried Mastodon. I wanted to follow mastodon users but never could figure out how to join a relevant server. I have not revisited since.

Granted Nostr is not the easiest to use either.

That said, Nostr is more than just a messaging Protocol. Devs are looking for ways to expand this. For example, one idea is to use the Nostr network to replicate go fund me. Another example is #[5] offering millions of sats for someone to create a decentralized replacement for GitHub.

I like to see them, otherwise they are easy to miss, but a way to filter notification types would be useful.

What happened? Is it spreading too much love?

I hope Nostr grows to be used by more than the “tech nerds”!

Yes. Haven’t been on Facebook or instagram in 3 years or so, best decision ever!

One of my friends keeps sending me tik tok links and I keep ignoring them lol … 😭

Today positive, but this week negative! 🥲
