The previous elections were canceled because the establishment disliked the results. The winning candidate, Călin Georgescu, was banned from running, so Romanians must now vote for a proxy, hoping he will restore the rule of law. * Nicusor Dan is not a "mathematician by profession who takes the middle ground, who portrays himself as Romania’s best hope", but the capital’s mayor who has failed in all his efforts and never truly worked a day in his life.

I completely agree, and I will quote something I wrote a while ago:
Don't fall in love with politicians, they remain what they are. They are not an extension of you and never will be. Their primary focus is on power and control, and their agenda will never fully align with yours.
I don’t know Georgescu well enough to give him my full endorsement, so I haven’t done that, nor would I do it for any other politician. For me, it was important that he overthrow the regime in Romania and continue with the EU.
I have also opted out in various ways, not just with my vote.
It depends on your information source , and it depends on what kind of views you have yourself.
Anyway, even if he didn’t succeed in becoming president, he managed to expose the system in Romania and throughout the EU. The system’s legality no longer exists. They’ve exposed themselves to everyone, democracy in the EU is a farce. We knew this before, but now we have official confirmation.
