Most are rather well. 20 have hatched and live.

We just planted heaps of peas, broccies, brussies, onions, raddies, and cazzas (3 different kinds of carrot) ether side of this dreamy duo. Exciting. 
Most of our chillies have now been shut down for winter but these two are still happy so we will be more hands-off (less choppie choppie) for a wee while meow.

Zero day attack? Nope... Day zero cuteness attack!
These are coturnix quail who have only hatched in the last day or so. There are stones in their water so they do not drown. They are eating a 24.5% protein and 5% fat feed (heavy on the meal worms as they were what we had initial access to.) We will introduce some more fish meal I think, to get protein, DHA, and EPA higher.
These chickies are mainly for manure and eggs, so the typically prescribed 28-30% protein level might not be as necessary as it would be if they were for meat only... Still thinking about it anyway.
The thermostat is cruising at 95°F/35°C. Will probably drop it 1.69° per day starting tomorrow.

We will keep these dry now until spring has sprung in a few months or so, otherwise fungus gnats might find an opportunity to rip through them in a heartbeat, which would be sub-optimal.

One explanation: it makes the sitting device(s) more robust and less inclined to rug le user in light of programmed erosion. Even a double stack is a massive structural improvement. Kids know this. Lololol.
