I’d say that from the human perspective, and in answer to your question, our attempts to live forever are as old as humanity.
To them it was the same.
Been around forever. All the mummification and tomb stuff the Egyptians did was to keep on going in the afterlife. Probably has been a thing long before them.
Lots of effort and constant vigilance. Which is why I’m not even bothering with a nym for now.
Check out the dissenting opinion in the Heller case if you’re interested. Pretty wild that just less than half the justices joined in the “it protects the government’s guns, not yours” opinion.
Everyone understands what it’s actually intended for. Many, including progressive federal judges, pretend to understand it in a way that it’s effectively nullified, I.e. “it’s only for state militias, which of course must follow federal orders according to the Supremacy Clause.” So essentially that it gives the government the right to have guns, which makes no sense as an item in the Bill of Rights. 😂
Problem is it won’t be a radical change by the time it arrives. It will be at a time when Americans are used to needing a permit to have a bolt-action hunting rifle and a revolver for self-defense.
It will eventually happen in the US and the 2A will be no obstacle. Lots of judges, including some on the Supreme Court, would rule that the 2A only protects a state’s right to have a militia, and does not protect an individual’s right. I expect Heller will be overturned eventually.
Amen 😡

An unlimited number of Open Timestamps can be put onto the blockchain with just 32 bytes (plus some overhead) thanks to the magic of Merkle trees. You then have to keep the path from your hash up to the root, and all siblings long that path, as proof that your hash was created prior to the block being mined. There is a service that collects all these timestamps, builds the Merkle tree and pays to put the final result onto the blockchain. This should be supported somehow (though I'm not sure the actual expenses are) as it is becoming (or will soon become) critical infrastructure.

TLDR on what it protects against?
I don’t see any reason why Lightning wallets couldn’t implement NFC and shiny graphics.
Need censorship, privacy tech bans, gun bans and higher taxes to protect you from the fascists.
$58k is humping the red candle dog pretty hard right now.

Freedom and privacy under attack with lots of aggression there it seems.
Are there times when Wine on Linux doesn’t work for those, company computer requirements aside? I mean when you have a choice in which OS you use.
Same with my work computer. Should have specified that it’s when you own it. If “you” is your company, same question applies. Proprietary software requiring Windows is a valid answer, but perhaps much of it works in Windows emulation (Wine) on Linux?
Why do people still use Windows? #asknostr
