Weird thing to share but maybe this will help someone. After going on what is now ten months of not knowing what has been going on with me — we determined I have an autoimmune disease. We found concrete data through blood testing with an immunologist. If you are sick and battling a ghost — just know you are not alone. Keep advocating for yourself and keep pushing through the medical system. (And get creative.) I have been told on average it takes up to two years to get diagnosis. The secret to my success was that I didn't take ‘no’ from anyone. I even had to call the hospital patient advocate hotline. One thing I learned no one will stick their neck out for you. You really have to advocate for yourself. If the doctor declines a request ask them to write it in your medical file as to why. That changes attitudes real quick.

Since taking on fractional CFO responsibilities in addition to my fractional COO work — I have gotten a front row seat of the state of startup. Meaning I now have clear visibility into many startups’ cash burn rates, financial projections and bank accounts. Over the summer I have been very vocal about that the state of startup finances on various voice platforms. There is a vast number of early stage companies running out of cash fast. So when this came through my LinkedIn feed today — I was not surprised.
