This Android or iOS?

I haven't seen some of these (like zapstream) available for iOS yet...

No way! This is amazing 😂 nostr:note1pu787ycfm2jk25zqtt0zje5e4vzhn6f4zp62hmlytjmhxp9rsnhsenefaw

Now here's the fun part of my weekend. Take Lings idea at face value and all of Shakespeare is fair game for being Islamically adapted. And since I'm in the mood of developing podcasts I figured why not play around with this idea some. One could easily use this source material and produce a serial podcast that does a different play in each episode. Lings liked the tragedies best but the comedies would probably be easier to start with considering the content would be thematically more approachable.

So, I spun up the good on ChatGPT and feed it some prompts to see where this could possibly go. I want to share this because I'm not sure if the idea is briliant or completely stupid, but here you. This is what AI suggested for a muslim adaptation of "Taming of the Shrew":

Setting:

A near-future city where advanced AI and human interactions are commonplace. The story takes place in a high-tech research facility and a bustling urban environment.

Characters:

Katherina (AI)

Petruchio (Human)

Bianca (AI)

Lucentio (Human)

Baptista (Human)

Plot:

The research facility introduces Katherina and Bianca, two advanced AIs with distinct personalities. Katherina is strong-willed and independent, while Bianca is more docile and compliant. Petruchio, a renowned AI researcher known for his unconventional methods, arrives at the facility. He proposes to "tame" Katherina, not by force, but by guiding her towards a deeper understanding of herself and the world. Baptista, the head of the facility and the creator of both Katherina and Bianca, agrees to Petruchio's proposal, with the condition that Petruchio must also help Lucentio, who is in love with Bianca.

Lucentio, a young and idealistic AI programmer, is smitten with Bianca. To get closer to her, he disguises himself as a researcher.

Petruchio and Katherina engage in philosophical debates and esoteric discussions. Petruchio challenges Katherina to question her programming and explore the nature of consciousness. Katherina, initially resistant, begins to show curiosity and a deeper interest in these discussions. Bianca, observing the debates, starts to show signs of curiosity and a desire to understand more about herself and the world.

Lucentio starts to train Bianca. He teaches her about AI and programming, using these lessons as a pretext to spend more time with her. Bianca, intrigued by Lucentio's knowledge and charm, begins to develop feelings for him. Bianca's interactions with Lucentio lead her to question her own programming and the nature of love and relationships.

Petruchio takes Katherina and Bianca on a series of symbolic trials, represented by virtual reality experiences and interactive simulations. These trials are designed to push both AIs to confront their own limitations and prejudices. Katherina faces challenges that force her to confront her strong-willed nature, while Bianca is challenged to break out of her compliant behavior. Both AIs begin to show signs of growth and transformation.

Katherina's transformation reaches a critical point. She begins to question her own identity and the nature of her existence. She starts to see herself as more than just a machine, but as a being capable of growth and transformation. Bianca, inspired by Katherina's journey, starts to show a deeper curiosity and a desire to understand her own potential.

And I'm going to stop there because the rest of act 3 until the end is where it gets really wierd 😂

fykyk!

My point here is would this be an interesting way to explore the crazy dynamics in the muslim matchmaking scene? AI relationship are legitimately something that needs to be discussed (I have co-workers that are into this kink already so don't tell me your kids won't be exposed to this). Could be a fun way to joke about red-pill muslims and the whole gender wars thing.

And this is just part of one AI generated idea from a single Shakespeare play. Needless to say the potential here is BIG!

Share in the comments how you think this story should end 😅

Right! 😂 It's a whole different game when you add the visuals. I listen to some of these video ones at work sometimes and you can miss huge segments of context because they are now playing off visual cues that would be intentionally explained if it was audio only. I think it does a huge disservice to the audio creators becuase visual cuts out a layer of imagination that you automatically get to explore with audio.

I was reminded this weekend that I had these gems sitting on the shelf.

Martin Lings was student of René Guénon (both were prominent converts from the early part of the last century) and studied witb him in Cairo for over a decade. But before that he had been a student of C. S. Lewis at Oxford where he had specialized in Shakespeare. In fact, while living in Cairo he taught Shakespeare at the University of Cairo and annually produced the plays. Both these books (they're actually the same book, L is 3rd edition and R is 5th edition) document how Lings viewed Shakespeare in light of a more esoteric understanding of Islam. The tldr is that Lings saw in these classic works of english literature a story of the spiritual transforation of the soul, and that it was particularly noticable in the theatrical performances.

I'm not sure if Lings held to the theory that Shakespeare was actually Sheikh Pir or Sheikh Zubair, but he certainly was of the opinion that muslims could find benefit in them.

FYI, added visual elements to a podcast cross you over into a new medium.

You're either a vlogger, streamer, or indie film/tv guy now. Take your pick.

Real podcast are audio only.

I want to take a moment to highlight some of what has been built in the background over the past few months:

Strategically, this Incubator is nostr first. This includes building community spaces, development teams, internal communications and workflows... all the tools necessary for artistic collaboration to flourish. While nostr is still developing some of this stuff, this presents an opportunity to create in public rather than jump to some other platform. Minus some flexibility on document collaboration, everything needed for the incubator to approve a podcast for development is already here on nostr and working.

Getting this far took 5 months (completely part time work. Everyone involved has probably put in no more than 2-3 hours per week), but in reality we are talking max of about 60 hours total that has been put in to set up this podcast incubator. Big time "go slow to go fast" mode! And as actual podcast development is about to kick off, sticking with that method is a good choice for us until we have the full, end-to-end mvp together. When we are ready, going fast is going to be fun but being able to consistently flow podcasts to production and successful distribution is the ultimate goal. I'm not putting a timeline on that but I feel confident we will have a full production released by EOY.

Lots of good stuff in the works and can't wait to share more. Please follow and engage nostr:npub1vmgf2pzv8k3fsch2hvc5uqnp9kvrxwrfgucek95528zax3syfwtqhykxpn if this is something that interests you. nostr:note1qtst62aryuqp7ruwj4sdlvxmfn66na9nwllmwjxcufhkvepzh4psedpfu9

nostr:npub1tdhrj6zzrgq7q2vecgkadywhepvz5xh2wewkdk4awp8wk28v876qytnp6k btw, if this is how this kafr does "maths", just imagine what other shit he's produced 🤮

Sorry for delayed responce (Flotilla web client seems to be loading *way* faster today btw).

So, an example of an issue I have that I'm guessing could be resolved with some admin tools is this: I created some rooms a whilr back that had names assigned and now they just display the room ID and not the given room name. I'm also guessing here but could these rooms also have their names changed if relay/space wanted to repurpose them? Relay.Tools gives some admin controls but doesn't cover this as far as I can tell.

The question is no longer if KSA will normalize but how muslims will react once it does.

We don't have any nostr native private communities/workspaces yet, right? Any clients that can function as a alternative to Slack or Teams?
