If there were no taxes and no social support by the state, I think non-profit charities and companies would emerge that would fill the gap and compete against each other, which most effectively serve the needs of society. ppl would then choose which social company or charity they would invest in.

Think maybe sats, small fee, algo or some kind of rep/verfication system could solve it. As long as it is transparent and users can decide what algo and filter rules it's ok to fight bots & scammers.
tw, fb, ig lets you choose the algo (for you, following), the problem is the hidden algo aka manipulation, shadow-banning and censorship, as described in the tw files.

What #nostr can learn from #hive, #brave, #twitter: Nostr needs automatic zaps, a reward system. Basic idea: users pay a small monthly fee (for verification, username, advanced features etc). Let's say 1000 Sats p.m. The fee is then distributed every month to the frontends, relays the user uses, and to other nostr users the user likes. Powerful concept. Similar to #hive and #brave. Also tw is redistributing ad revenue to users now. Would you pay a small monthly fee for automatic zapping?
