Insights on dual citizenship, passports, freedom, and sovereignty. Lawyer at Malakouti Law.

Once upon a time, you could travel without permission from the country you are from.

More convenient travel…or less monitoring from #BigBrother.

What matters more to you?

“Customs and Border Protection [CBP] "checks all GE members against major law enforcement databases every 24 hours," the report says.”

Citizenships #2 and #3 are for safety, lifestyle, and freedom.

Citizenship #4 is for extra assurance.

Beyond that is hobby.

Passport bros all over the U.S. in 2023.

5 things that your lawyer will love and make want to work with you again and again:

1. Send him/her all documents as scanned PDFs.

2. If emailing to ask for a call, write a line about what you want to discuss.

3. Send one email with all the info rather than 4 emails in a row within 40 minutes (for example).

4. Leave a public review if you loved your lawyer’s work for you (this is priceless for law firms).

5. Communicate directly if you are unsatisfied or uncomfortable with something.

Dual citizenship provides your first possibility, now or later, to entirely decouple from a nation-state government.

That's why one citizenship to two is Peter Thiel's zero to one in the realm of freedom from sovereign coercion.

Are American citizens required to enter the U.S. with a U.S. passport?

Yes.

Are American citizens required to depart the U.S. with a U.S. passport?

Also yes.

There are a few exceptions:

- U.S. passport cards

- cruise ships

- NEXUS

- SENTRI

- FAST

- etc. (a few others)

This means if you're an American-dual citizen, you're supposed to enter and leave with a U.S. passport

The law in question? 8 USC 1185 (b):

"(b) Citizens

Except as otherwise provided by the President and subject to such limitations and exceptions as the President may authorize and prescribe, it shall be unlawful for any citizen of the United States to depart from or enter, or attempt to de- part from or enter, the United States unless he bears a valid United States passport."

ocument Dependence in a Nutshell

If you don't jump through the bureaucratic hoops properly, you can't get the right ID.

If you don't have the right ID, you can't get the right document.

If you don't have the right document, you can't get the visa, residence or citizenship.

If you can't get the visa, residence or citizenship, your freedom of movement is impaired.

I said what I said.

In 2023, self-sovereignty doesn't mean you're not subject to state sovereign law.

It means you've arranged your life in a way to be able to opt-out of a particular nation-state's laws when it suits you.

#dualcitizenship

Your home county’s tether to your freedom of movement.

A year and 5 months after writing this article, all I see is acceleration.
