The government-and other powerful groups-want to control what you say and think. They tell you some things are illegal or secret, so you can’t talk about them. They say, “You can’t say that because it’s against the rules,” or “You can’t tell them that because they’re not allowed to know.” But the real reason is simple: controlling language is how they control your mind.

The government wants to tell you the things that you can't say on the basis that they're against the law or regulation. Or, quite possibly, something you can't say because it's a secret.
